After seeming like hours have passed by, Kim struggles to keep her feet from slipping in the mucky mess while Tom sweeps through the mud like nobody’s business – nearly finished while Kim looks as though she’s made no progress whatsoever. She looks at him and shakes her head in disgust. What makes these men so awful?! What’s in their blood to make them so hard-headed and mean? Her body begins to feel tired and worn out so she takes a seat on a barrel of hay. “How long have we been at this?” Kim pants, wiping her forehead. “20 minutes.” Tom replies, not breaking from his work for a second. He turns around to find her sitting down and raises his brow as if to say, “get back to work.” Catching his glare, Kim smirks and drops her shovel, locking eyes with him to see what he’ll do. He arranges his shovel into his left hand and points his finger directly at her, “You pick that up…” he warns in a very serious tone. Kim chuckles and shakes her head, “make me.” She says, smirking somewhat flirtatiously. He drops his shovel and grabs her arm as she struggles to escape his grasp. She beats on his chest and screeches but he stands firm. What is this guy made of: steel? Why isn’t he saying anything? Why isn’t he doing anything?! With all the struggling and squirming her wrists begin to burn from his tight grip. “Let go!” she screams; he doesn’t budge. She clenches her teeth and kicks him in the shins. He loses his hold on her as he goes to rub his shin. Kim flees from the barn as fast as her legs can carry her and into the house; Tom chases close behind. She runs upstairs into her room; locking the door behind her. She pants and stands back, giggling. She hears the footsteps inching closer but she walks to her bed and lays down, taking a deep sigh of relief. There’s silence on the other end of the door when all of a sudden Tom kicks down the door and stands in the doorframe. Kim shoots up, eyes wide and heart pounding. “He’s come to kill me.” She mutters to herself. Tom walks over and grabs her by the arm, dragging her kicking and screaming all the way down the stairs, through the kitchen and back outside to the barn. He locks the barn door and spins her harshly out of his grasp; she falls to the ground. Throughout the girls’ life they’ve learned to twist words and connive their way in or out of anything that they desire but the silence of this overly strong and tall brute angers Kim because he doesn’t speak words that she can twist around – he simply acts upon his instincts. She stands up, looking at him and sneers, “why don’t you say anything?!” He bends down to pick up her shovel and holds it in front of her. “Because you already know what I’m thinking.” He replies, going back to his work. What does he mean, ‘I already know what--’ “What do you mean, ‘I already know what you’re thinking’?” she spits back hatefully, but also very curious. He stops and turns around, glaring right into her eyes. “You’re not as dumb as you make yourself out to be. Start using that brain of yours and stop acting like a spoiled brat; it isn’t fooling anyone but yourself.” He replies, going back to work. Kim stands back, feeling as though she was hit with a brick wall. For the first time in her life she’s finally been silenced by a man who’s told her what’s what – not exactly because she understands but because she knows that if she goes to object…he might ‘hurt’ her again, or worse: ignore her. At the end of the long and tiresome day the girls drag themselves into the house, passing the food in the kitchen and trudging up to their room. Carole looks to Cole as the two men walk in from outside and grab plates to dish up. “Aren’t they going to eat?” she inquires. The men look to each other and chuckle. “I don’t think they have strength enough to pick up their forks.” Cole laughs. Carole turns around and dishes Cole’s plate up as he sits down. “So how are they coming; any progress?” she asks. “It’s like breaking a pair of stubborn stallions.” Tom replies. Upstairs the girls enter their room; Kim lays down on the bed, exhausted, as Angie stops in front of where the door used to be, finding it off its hinges and laying propped against the wall. “What happened?” Angie gasps in disbelief. Kim sighs and stares at the ceiling, “I got the quiet murderer.” She replies.

Angie: Well we can't sleep in here without a door! *she shouts in a huff*
Kim: What's the difference? They can just kick it down again.
*Angie turns and drags her tired body downstairs. It's quiet and she looks out the window to see Tom driving away. She also sees Cole and Carole standing next to her truck and he kisses her goodbye as she too heads for home. She looks to the stove but there's no food left and her stomach growls loudly.*
Angie: *seeing Cole coming back inside* We need a new door on our room *she says calmly*.
Cole: What's wrong with the old one?
Angie: It's gone. Your lovely friend kicked it down.
Cole: It's not gone, it's out in the hallway. You just need to put it back on the hinges and it'll be good as new *he says this like it's the most normal thing in the world to go kicking in doors and then putting them back up.*
Angie: *getting angry* Why should I have to fix it? I'm not the one who broke it!!
Cole: If you want it back up then you're gonna have to fix it. Wait here.
*He disappeared into another room and then came back with an old, beat up rusty toolbox.*
Cole: Come on.
*He walked upstairs and Angie reluctantly followed. She could hear water running and new that Kim beat her to the bathroom.*
Angie: *muttering under her breath* She better not use all the hot water.
Cole: What?
Angie: Nothing *she muttered again*.
*Cole got the door and positioned it in place*.
Cole: Now get the flathead out of the toolbox.
Angie: *looking at him like he was speaking in a foreign language* Get the what?!?
Cole: The flathead screwdriver.
*Angie opened the toolbox and gingerly picked through the dirty tools trying to find it.*
Angie: Is this it?
Cole: No that's a phillips head screwdriver. We need a flathead.
Angie: I'll give you a flathead *she mumbled*. Ow!!!
Cole: What's wrong now?
Angie: *grabbing her finger* I broke a nail!!!!!
Cole: Oh, is that all? Look the flathead is right there. Now just screw it back into the wall and it'll be fixed.
Angie: *turning the screwdriver* Do you realize how expensive this manicure was and now it's ruined!!
Cole: You better cut the rest of 'em off too because they're all liable to end up broken.
Angie: I don't see how the women can stand it out here. All the men just act like animals and you have to wear these ugly clothes.
Cole: Well I know of at least one woman who doesn't have such a low opinion of me *he says with a smirk*.
Angie: *turning the last screw and dropping the screwdriver back in the toolbox* Well clearly there's something wrong with her. Maybe she got kicked in the head milking one of her cows.
*Cole can take her lashing out at him but he won't stand for her insulting Carole. He grabs both of her arms and yanks her close to him within inches of his face.*
Cole: How can you be so stupid!!
Angie: *squirming in his grasp* You're hurting me *she whimpers*.
Cole: Carole has been nothing but nice to you and you better be nice to her and treat her with some respect. She's the only friend you've got here and the only one you'll ever have!!
*He lets her go and she backs away from him.*
Angie: *rubbing her arms* I still don't know what's she doing with you. You may be nice to look at but that's you're only becoming quality *she yells at him*.
*Cole raises his hand and slaps her. She's stunned for a minute but then she slaps him right back as hard as she can leaving a red hand print on his cheek. He wants to rub it to stop the stinging but he just stands there motionless. They both stare at each other neither one willing to back down when Kim comes out of the bathroom. She sees the red marks on both their faces and decides she just better keep her mouth shut and go to bed.*
Cole: *finally breaking the silence* I've never hit a woman before. But I won't hesitate to do it again if you or your sister step out of line. You better both be up and ready tomorrow at 6.
*He went back downstairs and Angie went into the bathroom while Kim just tried to disappear under her sheets.*
*Cole sat down on his bed and put his head in his hands. 'Maybe I'm in over my head here', he thought to himself. 'I've broken horses before but you can't treat a woman like you would a horse. I've got to control my temper but she just makes me so mad!' He laid down and just stared at the ceiling trying to think of a way to get through to them without turning them black and blue.*

Later that night Cole calls Tom up, knowing he isn't in bed yet, and discusses a few ideas that involve the girls and their unacceptable behavior.
"I just don't know, Tom. I mean, they haven't done a lick of work in their whole lives because they've been so spoiled; maybe we are driving them too hard -- maybe they really can't do what we're telling them to." Cole sighs, taking a puff of his cigarette in his favorite chair in the living room. "They really have gotten to you, haven't they Cole? You know better than to believe their schemes and lies. Don't let them fool you; you're the toughest fella I've ever met in the whole state of Montana -- you can beat these girls no problem." Tom replies. Cole nods his head, knowing himself he doesn't believe their lies or schemes. There's a long pause on the other end of the phone when Tom takes a deep inhale. "Listen, should I stay there this summer and help out until they leave? Aunt Linda doesn't need all 8 of us down here and I'm sure you and Carole could use some alone time anyways. We work them in the day and you go with Carole in the evening while I babysit the two little monsters, how's that sound?" Tom waits for Cole's response. Cole hesitates and blows out a puff of smoke. "Thanks, Tom. I really appreciate it."
The next morning as Tom arrives, he knocks on the front porch door and walks in, finding Cole filling up the last bucket with ice water. "You ready?" Tom asks. Cole turns around and nods, handing Tom the bucket; Cole picks up his. They both head up the stairs, preparing themselves for the worst. "Do you think they'd bite?" Tom half-heartedly jokes. Cole chuckles, shrugging, "we'll soon find out; I'm only worried about the rabies." They creek open the door and stand beside their appointed gremlins; dumping the bucket of ice water on them. Kim and Angie scream and shriek as they leap out of bed, panting and gasping for air. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!" Angie screams, wiping the water out of her mascara stained eyes. "I told you to be up at 6." Cole replies. Angie stands motionless, as if to say, 'yeah? what about it?' "What time is it now?" she asks angrily. "6:15." Cole sets down his bucket next to a chair and throws Angie the dirty overalls she had on yesterday. "Get dressed and be downstairs in 5 minutes." Cole says as he walks out. Kim stands in front of Tom, drenched. He doesn't say a word but stands a glares at her. "I know, I know," Kim says as she rings out her pajamas, "I'll be down there in 5 minutes." Tom walks out and closes the door behind himself. The girls look at each other and make a high-pitched, frustrated screaming squeal (lol).
Outside, Tom prepares another gruesome chore for Kim; Cole sits at the kitchen table and finishes his coffee, writing out a few things that need to be completed before the week is out for Angie. Angie, having been ready before Kim, heads downstairs. Noticing Cole at the table, she grabs a pancake with an over-snobbish attitude, scoffing, and walks outside with it in hand. Minutes later, Kim walks down the stairs, trying to adjust her trousers to fit right and not be so baggy. She finds breakfast on the counter and salivates but finds Cole sitting at the table. Pride or hunger? she asks herself. Her stomach growls so she swallows her pride and dishes up; standing as far from Cole as possible. Silence lingers and the question that's been on Kim's mind the most begins to consume her every thought. "Why doesn't he talk?" Kim asks, breaking the silence. Cole looks up, confused and shakes his head, "who?" "Tom. He doesn't say much; what's wrong with him?" "Oh; he talks...to folks he likes. He just doesn't say much to women." Cole replies. "Why not?" "It's a long story -- just go outside and get to work. Tom has--" "No! I want to know why he just treats me like some mutt without any brains. It would be so much easier if I knew what made him like that." She rolls her eyes, just wanting to know what she can do to sneak her way into getting him upset. Cole lays down his pen and looks right at her. "Do you really want to know why he hates women?" "Yes." Kim snips back, folding her arms. "Because his mother abandoned him when he was only 6. She was an abusive alcoholic and told him to keep quiet about her 'problem'; never to speak to anyone. He stayed that way for quite some time." Very much intrigued, but still not quite believing the story, she says coldly, "So why did she abandon him?" "When he would go to school the teachers asked him why he had bruises on his face and arms; he'd explain, because they told him they could help her. When the police arrived at her door and arrested her for child abuse, 3 months after she was released, she left him." "What did he do; where did he go?" "His aunt, who moved here to Montana when she heard about it, took him in and raised him with his 7 cousins. He still blames himself for his mother abandoning him." Quite amazed and feeling just awful for the way she treated him, she looks down and sighs. "Not everyone is born into a wealthy family -- some people actually have to work hard to survive; once they grow up it's in their blood and when they meet folks, like you and your sister, who just expect everyone to work hard for them...their first instinct isn't a warm and friendly one." Cole hears someone approaching and goes back to writing. "Now get out there before I throw another bucket of ice on you." he demands sharply.

Oh Kim, that was so sad I was in tears!!! *Cole walked outside looking around for Angie. He couldn't find her anywhere and he was just about at the boiling point thinking she had run off and was hiding somewhere when he walked into the stable and found her standing next to Bess petting her nose and talking to her.* Cole: What are you doing? Angie: *turning around embarassed thinking she was alone* Nothing, I...I was just talking to Bess. *He noticed she had clipped her nails and he grabbed her hands to look at them*. Cole: I see you took my advice. *She tried to pull away but his big, strong hands wouldn't yield. Finally he let go and she wiped her hands on her pants as if she could rub his touch away.* Cole: Well I'm glad you're out here because we need to clean out the tack room today. Angie: *sighing in a frustrated manner* What's a tack room? Cole: It's where you keep all the stable equipment like saddles, bridles, horse blankets, all that kinda stuff. We need to clean the blankets and polish the saddles. *They gathered up the blankets and Angie followed Cole out to the clothesline.* Angie: Are we gonna wash these in the machine? *she asked wiping the sweat from her forehead* Cole: They're too bulky for that. Just drape 'em over the line and first we'll beat as much dirt out of 'em as we can and then we'll hose 'em down and leave 'em here to dry. *The blankets were heavy and the clothesline was quite a bit over her head and when she tried to throw one of them over it she lost her balance and fell back on her rear and the blanket got twisted around her head and shoulders. Cole laughed while she struggled to get out from under it.* Angie: *getting back up* It's not funny. I can't help it if I'm not 7 feet tall like you. Cole: 6'3" actually *he said taking the blanket from her and easily draping it over the line.* Here *he said handing her a big, sturdy stick*. *They spent quite a while beating the dirt off the blankets and then Cole brought over a couple of water hoses to rinse them off. Angie was standing too close however and when she aimed the hose at the blanket the water splashed back in her face getting her hair and the top part of her shirt and overalls wet. Cole didn't laugh this time because he was simply stunned by how incompetent she was. However it did get Angie tickled and she couldn't help but laugh a little at the odd situation she and her sister were now in.* Cole: *thinking to himself* Maybe this brat is human after all. *After they finished with the blankets they went back to the stable and drug the saddles out to be cleaned and polished to keep the leather in good shape. They had been going about this chore in rather tense silence when finally Angie spoke up.* Angie: I'm sorry for what I said about Carole last night *she kept her head down and continued to polished the saddle while she spoke.* *Cole didn't know what to say. She sounded sincere but he knew better than to trust her.* Cole: What are you trying to do now? Angie: I'm not trying to do anything. Carole has been nice to us and I shouldn't have said that about her. Cole: Okay, well apology accepted, I guess. Angie: How long have you two been together? Cole: I don't see how that's any of your business! Angie: Geez, it's not like I asked you anything really personal. Cole: Why do you care about my relationship with Carole? Angie: It's not that I really care but this is boring and if we talked about something it might make time go by faster. Cole: About three months *he said as he went back to working on the saddle.* Angie: *looking up surprised* THREE MONTHS!!! Wow I've never dated anybody more than a couple weeks. Cole: I guess rich playboys aren't really into committment, huh? Angie: No! *she said standing up straight and putting her hands on her hips.* I'm the one who gets sick of them. Cole: You know, you are an adult even if you don't wanna act like one and that's awfully childish behavior. Angie: Well I'm sorry that we can't all be as mature as you, you know running off people's horses and dumping ice water on them. *Cole kept his head down and just kept polishing his saddle not saying another word.*

Long posts are the best, though! I'm sorry it's taken so long; I would have had it posted last night but the internet was down. Tom opens the porch door and leans in, spotting Kim in a far away daze, looking through the small window above the crude looking sink. "Hey!" Tom says sharply, as if calling for a wandering cow. It draws Kim's attention and she fixes her eyes on him. He motions for her to come outside, "we ain't got all day." He says in deep cowboy drawl, then walks back outside. Kim stands smiling, fascinated and amazed that she may be falling for such a man as Tom Henry -- a cowhand and...hillbilly. She chuckles to herself then sets down her plate and follows him outside. She looks around to see what he's been up to -- and what she'll have to help him with for the rest of the day -- then walks up to him, smiling. "What are you doing?" she asks sweetly. He doesn't say a word but keeps chipping the paint off the barn. Stepping closer to him she runs her hand down his arm, "You can talk to me, Tom; I won't hurt you." He backs away and walks into the barn -- completely ignoring her. She stands still, trying to hold back from getting angry, but she can feel it creeping up on her. As he walks out of the barn, she forces another sweet smile but he hands her a paint chipping tool and goes back to work. She looks at how he's using the paint chipper, trying to get the hang of how to use it, but she can't quite understand it's concept. She lets out a frustrated sigh and keeps trying, pounding it on the wood and scratching harshly. Tom places his tool in his back pocket and wraps his long fingers around her hand. Her heart flutters and she looks up at him, smiling. He has the most serious look on his face as he guides her hand up and down on the wood. She turns around and goes to kiss him when he grabs the tool out of her weak grip and releases her hand. He hands the tool back to her and says almost monotone, "You try it." She takes it, mood disrupted, and stands motionless, watching him go back to work. She clenches her teeth and balls up her fist; 'Of all the men I've wanted in my life, it had to be the hillbilly who ignores me.' She scoffs and goes back to work, actually doing a pretty swell job. She's almost completed a whole quarter section in 20 minutes. Tom stands back, watching her get into it, and chuckles. Panting, she stops and catches his stare. "What?" She asks, turning her whole body around to face him. "I was beginning to think you were a complete idiot." Tom smiles, looking over her progress. " ...What?" she raises her voice, offended. "You're actually working; I had doubts that you could even do anything at all. Nice work; keep it up." He goes back to scraping. Kim stands confused. 'Did he just insult me or compliment me?' She scoffs snobbishly, knowing that she "always" does a perfect job -- why would he expect any less? But in truth it's because her mind's been so focused on her deepening hatred toward him, she hardly noticed the tough work she's had to endure. Hours later, and still not another word out of Mr. Talk-None-Stop, Tom grabs the tool from Kim's hand as she rests herself on a very uncomfortable rock and walks into the barn, digging around for a pair of paint brushes. Once he comes out he hands her a paint bucket and a brush. "By all means, no need to go into detail; I know how to use these; you don't have to explain." She turns around and begins to slop the paint onto the barn, mumbling to herself. Tom gets up top a ladder and starts to pain the rim; things go well until a couple droplets of paint fall on Kim's head. She feels the paint and looks up. "What's wrong with you!? I've tried to be nice but you insist on making my life miserable! I'm doing the best I can!" Tom sticks his brush back into the can and watches her meltdown. "I didn't--" "Don't you tell me that was an accident; you've had it out for me ever since you met me!" She reaches her brush into the paint can and glops it onto his pants and shoes. He goes to yell at her but she smiles slyly and laughs. "Why you--" he climbs down from his ladder and swipes the loaded brush across her face. He starts laughing uncontrollably as she growls; she reaches into her can and smears it across his face; standing back and laughing. That night after chores, Kim and Tom walk into the kitchen, both covered, head to toe, in paint with a scowl on each one of their faces. Angie and Cole begin laughing out loud; Angie shoots a glare over to Cole and sneers, "don't laugh at my sister, you jerk!" Angie suppressed the giggles as best she can as Kim walks up the stairs, absolutely fuming.

*After the girls got cleaned up they sat in their room and compared their days.*
Angie: *laying on her bed* So are you gonna tell me what happened?
Kim: *sitting on her bed filing her nails* That jerk dripped paint on me on purpose so I gave him the same back.
Angie: Kimmy! *she said like she was scolding a small child*
Kim: Well he deserved it!
Angie: I have no doubt that he did but that one seems kinda off balance. You might want to be careful of him.
Kim: Oh yeah and Cole's real well adjusted. He spanked both of us and he slapped you!
Angie: Oh I can handle him. He's got a little temper but he's seem mostly normal.
Kim: Well Tom definitely has issues. Cole told me that his mom used to beat him and she left him when he was 6 years old. His aunt took him in after that and now he's some kind of woman hater or something. *She pauses for a minute as she files her nails some more.* It's a real shame too 'cause he's so big and cute.
Angie: *giggling* Ooooh I know!! They both are.
Kim: *giggling too* So what happened with you and Cole today?
Angie: Well neither one of us hit each other so I guess that's progress. He was actually less rude to me today, but I wouldn't expect that to last.
*The girls had been asleep for a while when Angie woke up thirsty so she put on her frilly pink robe with feathered trim and matching high-heeled slippers and headed downstairs to the kitchen. Standing at the sink drinking her glass of water she was startled when she heard the front door open and saw Tom and Cole walking in from the porch. All three just stood there frozen looking at each other.*
Angie: What are you doing here!
Cole: I live here *he said calmly.*
Angie: I meant you. *she said looking at Tom*.
Tom: Didn't Cole tell ya? I'm staying here too as long as y'all are here.
Cole: *looking her up and down with a strange smirk*. Do you actually sleep dressed like that?
Angie: I wouldn't expect you to appreciate it but this was designed especially for me by one of the most exclusive salons in Manhattan.
Cole: Maybe so, but I still can't believe you could actually sleep in that get up.
Angie: Well what do you suggest I sleep in? My dirty overalls?
Tom: How 'bout nothin'. *he said with a straight face*
*Appalled that this hick would speak to her that way she stormed back upstairs.*
Cole: Good one! *he said laughing*.
Tom: Well we've got to keep 'em on their toes. Can't let 'em get too comfortable.
Cole: You have to admit though, they are pretty easy on the eyes.
Tom: I guess *he said with a somewhat disgusted look on his face.* If you asked me though, I wouldn't have either one of them.
*Back up in the girl's room.*
Angie: *shaking Kim* Kim wake up! Wake up!
Kim: What do want? *trying to swat her away*.
Angie: Tom is staying here too.
Kim: *sitting up straight as an arrow upon hearing this* He's gonna live here?
Angie: Yes. I just saw him and Cole in the kitchen and he told me.
Kim: I think our lives just got a little bit harder, if that's possible.

A couple weeks pass by with only the same luck -- none. The girls are more stubborn than ever and the men are still trying to devise a plan that will knock these girls into reality. Tom and Cole pace in the living room while the girls are upstairs devising a plan of their own.
"They're only getting meaner, Kim. I don't like this! It isn't fair; what have we done to deserve this kind of punishment?" Angie pouts as she looks at herself in the mirror -- tapping on her skin and sticking out her tongue in hopes she doesn't have some kind of unknown hillbilly disease. "I have no idea. Tom's just as mean. I mean, he pulled out a chunk of my hair yesterday!" Kim pouts, rubbing the "bald" spot on her head. Angie holds back from telling Kim that she full well deserved it for dropping a horseshoe on his foot then threatening to burn down the "ugly house of hatred". But she refrains and sighs, agreeing that something must be done. "We're ladies," Angie protests. "and we aren't meant to be driven like slaves. Our job is to look gorgeous for our men and buy pretty jewelry for our beautiful clothes. It's what attracts real men to us; and if these hillbillies can't understand that then...then I say we just leave!" Angie says hastily, letting out a deep exhale, pausing to think about it. There's silence for a few moments until Kim speaks up, "You mean...actually leave?" Angie pauses, both girls thinking the exact same: 'They'd kill us if they ever caught us'. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Angie speaks up, and nods more assured of her idea. "Yes, I say we sneak out of here and go find a hotel; I couldn't stay in this house one more night with this awful bed!" Kim smirks and nods, "All right, but oh," she looks down, coming upon a snag in their plan. "What are we going to do with all our clothes and things? We can't just leave them here..." Angie looks around and sighs, "You're right. I guess we'll just have to take what's absolutely necessary. We'll buy more things once we get home." "How are we going to get home from here? New York is clear across the country!" Kim says, as though she's beginning to think this idea isn't so hot. "On our way down here I noticed there was a hotel only a couple miles away. Once we get there we'll call Daddy and tell him that these men tried to attack us and force themselves upon us! But being absolute ladies, we decided the only way to leave was to sneak out." Angie smiles, proud of herself that she came up with such an idea. "Sounds like a plan to me, but answer me this, oh wise sister: how do we get the money for a hotel? We're broke!" Angie gives Kim a dead stare and hikes up her skirt just a bit. "Sister, we can have as much money as we want; just one flash of these legs and men will be lined up all the way down to the state of Africa." The two girls giggle, having no idea that what they just said meant nothing at all, and begin to sift through their belongings to choose only the necessary items for sneaking out.
"Tom, I'm starting to think these girls are plum insane! And not just a little bit -- like my Aunt Dora; these girls are out for blood -- our blood!" Cole shakes his head and continues pacing. "We have at least one thing on our side." Tom replies. "What's that?" "Fear." Tom chuckles. "Sure, but how long can that last? If we keep pulling them by the arms and ripping their hai--" Tom interrupts to defend his side of the story. "I didn't grab her hair, Cole; she threatened to burn the whole place down so I chased after her and accidentally grabbed her hair instead of her arm! It wasn't even that much; mostly ends anyways." Cole takes a deep, frustrated sigh and sits down hard on the chair. "We have to come up with a better idea. They know we're strong but they think we're stupid." Cole lowers his head and wracks his brain for an idea. "I got it!" he shouts, jumping to his feet. "What?" Tom inquires. "We're going about it the wrong way. Listen; what does a woman usually do?" Tom hesitates and shrugs, "Complain?" Cole laughs, "No. They work in the house, right? Doing the laundry and the dishes and preparing the dinner. We've been making them do all the physical work for weeks now and they just don't get it." Tom shrugs and shakes his head, still not understanding. "We'll stop forcing them to do what's fit for the men and introduce to them what come naturally." Cole smiles, actually grabbing hold of a worth-while idea. "Nothing comes naturally to those women, Cole; not even their hair color." Tom says almost bored-like. "We'll see; maybe they might just do a lick of work yet." Cole says as he walks out of the living room and into his bedroom.

Well you definitely got me back for cracking you up!! Now I'm all sweaty and just a mess from trying not to laugh out loud at work. That was the best post yet Kim: *looking in the mirror and whining* Look, my beautiful auburn hair now has ugly brown roots! Angie: *packing her stuff* Quit complaining, my roots are showing too but there's nothing we can do about it until we get home. Now finish packing and lets get out of here! *After waiting a couple of hours until the boys were asleep, Kim and Angie quietly crept downstairs and made their way through the kitchen and out the door. However their 'freedom' was short lived as Kim tripped over a loose board on the porch and fell dropping her small suitcase and raising a loud commotion in the process. Tom wasn't asleep yet and when he heard this he ran outside to see what was going on. When Kim saw him she tried to get up and run but he quickly caught her and grabbed her by the waist heaving her over his shoulder. By the time he got back to the house Cole was standing on the porch in his pajamas.* Cole: What's all the ruckus? *he said rubbing his eyes* Tom: *trying to explain over Kim's shouting* They tried to run off. I caught this one but I don't where her sister is. Kim: Put me down you big oaf!! *she cried as she pummeled his back with her little fists* Tom: Hush up! *and he gave her a couple swats on her rear* Cole: Well we've got to find her *he said in a frustrated tone*. You stay here and make sure she doesn't try to run away again and I'll go look for Angie. *Cole changed his clothes then grabbed his flashlight and went out to try and find his lost little brat. He checked in the barn and the stable but she wasn't there. Out in the backyard he found her suitcase and reckoned she must have ditched it while she was running. Once he got close to the woods behind his house he saw one of her shoes.* Cole: *thinking to himself* I hope she wasn't stupid enough to try and hide in the woods. Cole: *yelling* Angie! If you're in there you better come out, you could get hurt! *Angie hiding down in the brush thought he was just trying to bluff her and she had no intention of showing herself.* Cole: *still yelling* There's poison ivy and thorn bushes and snakes too! Now come on out of there! *Angie couldn't care less about getting into poison ivy or thorns but she was terrified of snakes. She wouldn't even look at them on trips to the zoo. Slowly she stood up and called out to Cole that she was coming. As she was about to start walking out she heard something move in the brush near her feet. She took a few more steps and then she saw it. A skinny, solid black snake has slithered along side her. She stood frozen and as if it happened in slow motion the snake lunged forward and bit her leg. Once it let her go, Angie ran out of the woods and grabbed onto Cole who was ready to yell at her until he saw the terrified look on her face.* Cole: What's wrong? You look like you've just seen a ghost. Angie: *breathing very fast and shallow* A snake...a snake bit me. Cole: *eyes widening with concern* Did you see it? What did it look like? Angie: It was real skinny and it looked all black *she panted* Cole: Okay, okay just calm down. We have a lot of those around here and they're not venomous so you're okay. *This news did not seem to make Angie feel any better as she was still holding onto Cole for dear life.* Cole: *trying to get her to let go of him* Now let me see it, where did he get ya? Angie: My leg *she said weakly as she pointed to the bite.* *He shined his flashlight on her leg and saw the bite mark just above her ankle. It was bleeding pretty bad so got her to sit down and he took off his shirt and wrapped it around the wound.* Cole: Put your arms around my neck *he said as he picked her up and carried her back into the house.* *Once in the girls room they saw Kim lying on the bed and Tom sitting on her legs to get her to stay put. She seemed calm but that was only because she had tired herself out from yelling at him and trying to wriggle free.* Kim: What happened? *she said sitting up as best she could* Cole: *laying Angie down on her bed* She tried to hide in the woods and got bit by a snake. She'll be alright though, it wasn't venomous. Tom: I'll go get the first aid kit *he said as he finally got up off Kim.* Kim: *sitting next to Angie* Thanks for leaving me Sis! Angie: I'm sorry. I didn't know what to do so I just started running. *Tom came back in with the first aid kit and Cole cleaned the wound and bandaged it without saying a word.* Cole: *looking her square in the eye and with a very serious tone* That was a very stupid thing you did. We have venomous snakes around here too you know. You don't have any money either. What were you gonna do, hitchhike back to New York? Angie: *feeling ashamed and looking down* I guess it wasn't a very good plan. Tom: No it wasn't. Do you know what kind of terrible things could happen to pretty girls just wandering down the street at night? *Kim and Angie both just hung their heads knowing what they said was right.* Cole: Now you two better get some sleep. Things will be quite different around here tomorrow.

This just struck a funny cord. I can imagine you hearing me get caught and then you turn into military mode and just drop everything to start running like a marathon runner. L. O. L

My first thought was to have Tom tie you up but then I thought that might seem a little to kinky so I changed it

Angie perks, "Things will be different? How do you mean? Are you actually gonna give us a break from now on?" "Hardly." Cole laughs. "You'll see in the morning. Goodnight." Cole walks out of the room and back into his room, closing the door behind him. Kim and Angie sit on the bed, looking to each other in sheer horror in fear of what may be prepared for them tomorrow. Tom turns the lights off on the girls and goes into his room. Angie and Kim sigh and walk up to their room. "How are we gonna get out of this one?" Kim asks, closing the door behind her. "Simple." Angie replies. Kim looks over, eager to hear another plan, "what is it?" "Nothing." Angie sighs, sitting down on her bed. "There's no way out; we're stuck here for good."
The next morning the girls wake to yet another "refreshing" bucket of ice water. "What the!" Angie shoots up, glaring at Cole. She looks out the window and huffs, "it isn't even light out; go away." She throws the covers back over herself and snuggles her pillow close. Cole rips the sheets off her; Tom does the same to Kim. "What are you doing! leave me alone!" Angie snaps, waving her arms around in the arm, trying to hit him. "What time is it?" Kim yawns, stretching. "4:30" Cole replies, glaring at Angie. "4:30?!" Angie shrieks. That's an hour and a half too soon!" Cole looks over at Tom and laughs, "They can do math," he looks back at Angie and nods, "impressive." "Just tell us what we're doing up at 4:30 in the morning." Angie huffs. "You've been assigned new duties today. You won't have to work outside in the sweltering heat." Cole says, raising a brow. "Oh thank heavens." Kim lets out a sigh of relief. "You'll be working inside...in the sweltering heat." Tom replies. Kim looks at him coldly. "Shut. up." "Well Kim, it can't be any worse. At least we won't have to smell the horses and cows all day." Angie smiles, thinking this whole indoors thing may be a cinch after all. "They wouldn't make it that easy." Kim adds without breaking her glare with Tom. "So what is the plan, boys? You gonna work us to death with house work? I don't think so; you've got another thing comin' if you think we're gonna get down on our hands and knees and scrub until our hands are raw -- like you said when we got here." Angie folds her arms and humphs. "It's either in here, or out there." Cole points outside. Angie and Kim look to each other and stand up, walking to their clothes. "We'll be down in 5 minutes." they both say, knowing the routine.
They get downstairs and look around to find the house 'spotless.' "So why are we up at 4:30? What could possibly need our attention so early time in the morning and can't wait until 6?" Kim complains, looking around. "Breakfast." Tom replies, walking outside for a smoke. "That can't be so tough." Angie smirks. "Then get to it." Cole replies, walking outside. "We'll expect lunch in 45 minutes." The girls look around and search for the necessary tools they'll be needing for preparing breakfast. "What should we make?" Kim asks as she holds a spatula in one hand and an egg beater in the other, utterly confused by them both. "Hmm, how about something easy. Eggs, bacon and toast?" Angie shrugs. Kim nods and the two get to it. 40 Minutes later, with eggs running down the sides of the cupboard and bacon pieces lying all over the floor, the girls look at their job "well" done and smile. Tom and Cole enter and look around, figuring the place would be burned down already, they nod to one another impressed. "So what have we got here?" Cole inquires as he sits down to his plate, finding burnt eggs wrapped around rawish bacon. "Why is the bacon still half alive?" "Well, the bacon kept snapping at us so we figured it was done. The eggs never let us know when they were done so we had to guess." "Oh!" Kim gasps, "I almost forgot the toast." "That'll probably the only thing I'm going to be eating of substance today." Cole laughs, looking to Tom. Kim lays down a small piece of something pitch black and stands back smiling proudly. "Well...dig in." she smirks. Tom and Cole both take bites of their food and "bleh". "I feel fine. I liked bacon and eggs yesterday; I like bacon and eggs today; and I'll like bacon and eggs tomorrow -- I feel fine, I feel fine; I feel very fine." Cole takes another bite and blehs again. Kim and Angie stand back smirking when Tom pulls up a chair and points, "Dig in." he smirks back, then almost gags as he unconsciously takes another bite. Kim and Angie look to each other and immediately their smirk fades when they realize there's nothing else to eat -- they'll have to eat the same thing.
