That would be so confusing. I mean, 3 6'3 men with drop dead gorgeous looks and eyes that could melt steal...one Gary was almost too much for Hollywood...but adding two more?! May have to call NASA. "Get us down, please!" And all in uniform? lol, There aren't any tuxes here We save those for the jungles Everbody knows proper etiquette is to wear your tux in the jungle and not when you're at war ;D Yeah I don't think the world could've stood it if there had been more than one Gary. The women would've sure loved it though Man they've started putting a block on youtube where I work and it's driving me crazy b/c I can't watch all the great Gary stuff anymore. That's usually what I did during my lunch break.

Cooper, Gary Cooper, 008. Alright that made me laugh out loud!! He did play a spy in a few movies and he looked great in a tux so he would have been a natural as James Bond

Gary, Gary Cooper...1901. We should do a spy adventure! Wait, no, we already did that. Gosh, this is hard! All right, I'll get to this tonight, girls. I have to think of an idea. But even when I get to it later...it'll be about 3 hours 'cause it's so hard to write differently than what I'm used to.

The next morning as the girls press on with their work duties, rumors of re-locating some of the nurses to Britain is a worry that hangs heavy in the air and gives the hospital a strange silence that lingers throughout the day. On her way back from the cafeteria after a 30 minute lunch break, Kim enters the hospital tent and walks up to the nurse station, making small talk with Lucy, another on-duty nurse when James walks in and starts looking around for Kim. While making his way through the crowded aisles of the small and cramped tent, he looks to every nurse who passes by, trying to find Kim out of the handful that are quickly hastening past him to get to the soldiers in need. Kim takes a few medicine jars from the cupboard above the sink and places them on a tray next to a dry cloth. While on her way over to one of her patients James spots her and walks up to her. She turns around, eyes bright and a smile across her lips. A smile of relief, as if he's come to save her from this terrible nightmare. James smiles charmingly yet reluctant on having to tell her the news. "I came to..." he says weakly, wanting to blurt it out but unsure of how to go about it. "Yes?" she smiles sweetly. "I have to go away for a while and I didn't want you to think I had just gone away. I didn't want you to think that it wasn't important...about us. I don't know how to put it into words..." he takes a sigh of frustration. "You said it very nicely." she replies kindly. "No, I don't think you understand..." "Will you be gone long?" she inquires. "No, only a few days." he says nonchalantly. "You'll be careful, won't you?" She hesitates for a moment, thinking of what she can give to him for good luck then reaches behind her neck and unclasps her necklace and wraps it around his neck. She pulls away and smiles, the two in a close distance. "I wish I could kiss you..." he says while gazing deeply into her eyes. She looks around then back to him, "oh you couldn't; you know the rules; if they catch us kissing we'd both be deported..." He looks around to find no one looking, then quick steals a sweet kiss and walks off, back to his bunker. She stands motionless with a funny smile on her lips then looks around sheepishly.
A few days later while working a later shift than usual, a wounded officer gets hauled into a private room in the back of the tent for higher rank. Kim gets assigned to aid him for the evening. She walks in to find James laying on the bed, inhaling deeply. She quickly walks over to his bedside and kisses his forehead. "Oh Kim" he says sweetly, studying the worry lines on her face. "Are you hurt badly?" she braces for the worst, checking his arms. "You're lovely" he gazes into her eyes. "It's your leg, isn't it?" she says, in a tone filled with worry. "You're the loveliest thing I ever saw." he smiles, continuing to gaze at her face. "I have to go, I can't stay." She says, looking to the door, then back at him. "You'll come back?" he inquires. "Later, but I'll have to be awfully careful." "You've got to come back." he pleads. "I will later, when I can." she smiles, running her finger down his cheek softly. "Tonight." he whispers. "I'll try." Kim quickly scurries out of the room just as two nurses walk in. They look to her suspiciously but she's out the door before they can utter a single word. The one nurse walks over to check his temperature, the other stands by the door. "Goodness gracious. Get the doctor. " the one nurse gasps. "It's a miracle you're not delirious from the fever." "I haven't got any fever." he says frankly, telling her off. "Stay quiet, please." the nurse whispers. "It's not what you think." he smiles and rolls his eyes.

When its says "lingers on throughout the day" its a little choppy.
Lingers throughout the day is fine.
Again lack of adverbs. You love verbs...LOVE EM...but no adverbs to add additional excitement. When you do use them, try playing with them a little to see what flows best with a particular sentence. Example: James smiles charmingly yet reluctant on having to tell her the news.---Despite being against his better judgment, James reluctantly conjures his ever charming smile before breaking the bad news......just an example of things although not a great one.
Lot of "looking" going on.
Good progress though.

Yeah! How do you get rid of that "looks to her and sighs" business? I've tried all sorts of things, but I'm awful with adverbs.
The whole time while writing I kept that "lingering on throughout the day" out; but then I modified and threw it in for more reading. I'll keep a better eye on that next time.
Your example was great! Just the thing I needed; I'll work on it.

*Later that day while going about her duties Angie passes Kim in the hallway*.
Angie: *whispering* How is James doing?
Kim: *looking tired and worried* I don't know. I haven't been able to see him again.
Angie: *putting her hand on Kim's shoulder* Don't worry. He'll be alright.
Kim: I hope so *she says trying not to break down and cry*.
*Angie decides to go ahead and take her afternoon break and she walks outside to get some fresh air. As she is about to go back in she sees Jim walking towards her with a half-hearted smile*.
Jim: Hello.
Angie: Hello Jim.
Jim: You know how you told me you would write to me if I got transferred?
Angie: Yes *she says knowing what he's about to tell her already*
Jim: Well tonight they're sending my unit back to Morbeau where we were before we came here. We've got to repair some bridges that were bombed and I'm not sure how long we'll be gone or where we'll be sent after that.
Angie: *She tries not to cry but can't help it and a couple of tears drip down her cheek*. Oh Jim...*Before she can speak anymore he softly wipes the tears from her face*.
Jim: Here *he takes her hand and puts a piece of paper in it*. It's the address where I'll be. I guess I can write back to you here.
Angie: Yes, there's a rumor going around that some of the nurses and aides might be sent to England but as far as I know I'll be here. Can you wait just a minute?
Jim: Yeah but I have to get back soon and get packed and ready to go.
Angie: I'll be back in just a minute. *She turns and goes into the hospital and returns shortly with a piece of paper folded in her hand*. This is my address back home, just in case I don't see you again before this is all over.
Jim: *He unbuttons the left pocket on his jacket and puts the scrap of paper in it near his heart*. Well I better get back to my men and make sure everything is ready to go.
*They both stand there wanting to embrace but knowing they can't. Seeing each other in the evenings after their work days are over is one thing but such behavior during the day is not appropriate for a nurse and an officer*.
Angie: Please be careful Jim.
Jim: I'll do my best. Don't forget to write me okay.
Angie: Okay, I'll write a letter tonight and maybe it'll be waiting for you when you get there.
*He smiles at her sweetly then turns and walks back to his barracks. She stands there for a moment watching him go then she resumes her duties. As she's changing the bandages on one of the soldiers arms he can see the worried look on her face even though she is trying to force a smile*.
Soldier: Did something happen to your sweetheart?
Angie: What do you mean?
Soldier: I know that look. It's the same one my wife had when I got shipped out.
Angie: *sitting down on the little stool next to his cot* Well nothing's happened yet but he's being sent back out to field.
Soldier: You really love him huh?
Angie: *looking up surprised* Well gosh, I don't know. I mean I only just met him a few days ago.
Soldier: *smiling* Well hopefully he'll be okay and then when this mess is over you two will get married and live happily ever after.
Angie: You better quit worrying about me and get some rest yourself so you can go back to your wife.
*She walks over to the supply cabinet to get some more gauze for her other patients but her heart and mind are uneasy trying to figure out her feelings for handsome, young soldier she barely knows and has never even kissed*.

It has been bad weather around here today. I get off work at 12:30 on fridays and right after I got home is when we got the hardest rains so i just beat it home. I can't believe how much rain we've gotten here this summer and so far we haven't had a single day all summer at our normal temp. That would be really nice if we didn't have to have the rain with it.

angie: why are you crying?
theresa: because im falling in love with a guy who is probably going to get sent off to fight and get killed
kim:in love?
theresa: *looks up with tears rolling down her cheeks* did i say love?
angie: yes you did
theresa:well fine im in love with him, i know we havnt known each other long, but when i look into his eyes, its like i have no other cares in the world....other than you two of course. but i mean he makes me feel wanted and loved.
kim:theresa*looking at her*i know this may be hard for you, but we have to be strong*tears welling up in her own eyes*
theresa: oh how selfish of me to be thinking just about me and sam, when you two are hurting too.
angie, kim, and theresa crowd around each other and hug
theres a knock at the door.
kim:*opens the door* its for you theresa
sam:*walking in with a gardenia*hello theresa
theresa: hello sam
angie: well kim i think we need to do the laundry
kim:what?

kim: oh yes, well i think we will be going now
they walk out of the room putting their ears to the other side of the door trying to listen in
sam: i brought this for you
theresa takes the gardenia
theresa: its the most beautiful gardenia i have ever seen sam, thank you*she pulls it up to her nise and smells it with her eyes shut*
sam: i.....um....*he looks down into her eyes and notices that they are red*
sam:you have been crying....why?*as he strokes his fingers through her hair*
theresa:oh no reason....really.*she smiles pathetically*
sam: i came here to tell you that i have been told that i am to be sent to morbeau.
angie:*wispers to kim* morbeau? thats-
kim: sshhh!
theresa: *a tear strolls down her cheek again* thats why i was crying, because i just knew that you were going to be sent away
sam:*holds her face gently with his masculine hands* you dont need to worry darling, i will always come back to you!!
theresa: you promise?!!!
sam: yes i promise
theresa throws her arms around his waist and clings to him crying silently
sam: i love you
theresa: you do?
sam: with all my heart
theresa: oh sam! i love you too!
sam: i have to go now, but i will have to write you darling, will you write me?
theresa: most definitely darling!
sam: smile
theresa: what?
sam: i have to see you smile before i leave
she smiles for him as they interlock in a tender kiss.

A couple days after recooperating and healing up to nearly 100%, James takes Kim for a last stroll through the streets of town before boarding his 10 o'clock train. As the morning sun seeps in through the trees and rains down sunbeams upon Kim's auburn colored hair, adding a hint of romance to their stroll, they walk in silence. Both have so much to say, but neither know where to begin in such a short time period. Rounding the last corner, Kim catches a quick glimpse of the train station and acts quickly, suggesting the two walk into the bakery next door. They order their pastries and sit down next to a large window overlooking the train station she's learned to dread over this past week; loathing the moment she'll have to encounter with what may be her last goodbye with James. She catches his sweet smile from across the table and fixes a weak smile in place, putting on a strong front...but crumbling inside like a lost child having to come to terms with abandonment and loneliness. The sound of the whistle sends chills down her spine and shivers throughout her entire body. To many it's only another daily ride from one town to the next, but for Kim it's the sound of a dream being shattered into a million pieces; sealed fate in which she has no control over the steering and must give in to reality. "Is that your train?" she says uneasily, voice raspy and quivering. "It stays in the station here, until time to leave. There's really lots of time." he replies softly, smiling sweetly with a quick cringe. The whistle blows once more and the two gaze into each others eyes, pained and heartbroken. James stands up and lays the money down on the table. Kim pulls herself up from the chair and fixes her legs on the ground, amazed that she has the strength to even press on, she walks outside with him; the two staring at the train. Kim fixes her gaze upon him and speaks with a quivering tone. "Maybe this time you'll come back hurt just a little...maybe in the foot." she searches his eyes, suppressing the tears. "Or the ear." he chuckles. "No, no, not the ear." she moans softly. "Your feet have...been hurt already." She collapses into his embrace and the two hold each other for only mere seconds before James is pulled away by the echo of the last whistle. "I'll come back." he assures her. "I promise." He wipes her tears gently with his finger and smiles. She holds onto his arms and he squeezes them gently, releasing himself from her grasp and walking toward the train quickly. As the train whistle blows just once more and the steam spits into the air, Kim averts her eyes and continues to sob uncontrollably.
On her way to work that morning, Kim slowly walks into the hospital and looks around. Suddenly the pain in the room seems so much more real and energized. She catches a glimpse of Theresa and Angie in the corner of the tent sitting crouched over in their chairs, as if both sobbing.
