Angie: Now come on you need to finish your speech *She tried to get up and go back to her seat but Cole put his arms around her waist and wouldn’t let her up.* Cole: I really don’t wanna do this. Angie: I promise you it won’t be nearly as bad as some of the chores you made me do. Cole: Yeah but what if I mess it up and embarrass you. Angie: You won’t *and she leaned over and kissed his nose.* Cole: Will you listen to me! *He said raising his voice slightly.* I don’t want to do this. Angie: Okay sweetie, you don’t have to. I’m sorry. Cole: I’m sorry *he said nuzzling closer to her.* I guess it’s not that big a deal. I’m just really nervous about this whole thing. Angie: You’ll be fine. I’ll do all the talking, okay? Cole: Okay. Angie: You know, you look really nice in that tux. *She said as she stood up and looked him over.* Cole: You think so *he said slyly*. Angie: Oh yeah. You’re gonna be fighting off the women. You know I showed the girls your picture at lunch yesterday and they were just going crazy. *She didn’t tell him however that their attitudes changed once they found out he was a ranch hand.* Cole: Well I think I’ll stick with you if that’s alright *he said playfully.* Angie: Oh my gosh, it’s getting late and I still gotta get dressed!! Come help me pick something out. *They walked into her closet that was bigger than his bedroom at home and looked at all the gorgeous clothes and shoes laid out before them.* Angie: What about this one? I wore it to a party a few months ago and got lots of compliments on it. [img src="http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t163/coopsgirl_30/thirtywhitsatingowntrain.jpg" src=" Cole: I don’t know that much about this stuff but it’s real pretty. Angie: Well I just want to look nice for you so if you like it then this is the one.

Trying her best at being a proper hostess, Kim sits down with Rhett and chooses this time to gratify her own curiosity by using her mother's technique in prying...subtly. "So, Mr. Butler, what is your relationship to my mother?" Kim inquires. "Her husband, Mr. Nelson, knows my father -- a long time friend since college. We ran into each other at a charity ball the night before you and your sister arrived back home and she informed me that she had a feeling you'd be alone for this evening and wondered if I could be of any assistance." Rhett explains all-too gentlemanly (lol). "Oh, I see." Kim nods. "And what do you expect the outcome of this night will be?" "I suspect that I will not be leaving this ball without a piece of you in my heart." He replies boldly. Kim sits back, and takes a deep sigh. "You sure know how to keep a woman on her toes, don't you, Mr. Butler?" "I would hope I do, Miss Nelson. You see, I've never met a woman with such charm or grace; and I would be most delighted if I could get a chance to know a bit more about you -- and your thoughts upon marriage." He replies calmly. "Marriage?" Kim gasps. How can he keep so still and cool about all of this? I haven't known this man for more than 45 minutes and he's already talking about marriage! "Yes: marriage. I've been looking for a suitable wife all across the globe and I'm starting to think my answer may be right here in New York; if you would only agree to accept my proposal.” Rhett gazes into her eyes and smiles. “I—I don’t know what to say, Mr. Butler--” Kim looks down, trying to process all of this in her mind. “Call me Rhett.” He continues smiling. The sound of feet walking toward the two breaks Kim from her thoughts and she looks up – not in embarrassment or in fear that she’s doing anything wrong but glad at least someone was able to postpone her answer until a later time. “Hey sis!” Angie smiles, then quickly flinches in surprise at the sight of some strange man sitting beside Kim in an inquisitive position. (lol, that sounds funny.) Kim stands up and introduces Rhett. “Angie, this is Rhett Butler.” She says hesitantly, still running his words over in her mind, a mile a minute. Angie looks to Kim after she shakes hands with Rhett. “Kim, are you all right?” she chuckles. Kim looks up and nods, but not too convincingly. “Can I speak with you for a moment, Kim?” Angie asks, then walks off to the side. Kim excuses herself and walks over to Angie – out of hearing range to Rhett. “Who is this guy?” Angie asks, looking him up and down. “I told you—“ “No, I mean why is he here?” Angie interrupts. “Well…” Kim hesitates. Angie folds her arms and taps her foot, jokingly. “He asked me to marry him…” Kim replies. Angie stops joking and stares at Kim with wide eyes. “He what?” She pauses for a minute, looking at him again, then directs her eyes back on Kim, “What are you gonna say?” Kim hesitates then shrugs, “I’m not sure yet...”
Tom arrives at the airport within 25 minutes. He quickly makes his way to the ticket desk and bends down to the little hole. “I’d like a ticket to New York, please.” He pants, checking his watch: 3:13 “The next plane leaving Montana to New York will be in 10 minutes.” The man replies kindly. “Can I wait on the plane?” Tom asks, not used to this kind of stuff. “If you’d like, sir.” The man replies, chuckling. Tom walks onto the plane and takes his pick out of the seemingly endless row of chairs; he takes a seat in the first one he comes to and looks out the window, scared witless. Don’t look down; just do it for her. She’ll be in your arms before you know it. He closes his eyes and repeats over and over in his head: She’ll be in your arms… Her small and tender body nestled in his strong embrace; feeling the warmth of her soft skin rubbing against his rugged arms. A woman who’s completely his; something he’s yearned after for as long as he can remember…and it’s finally going to come true. Just a few more hours and his dream can begin…

Angie: Kim, you can’t be seriously considering marrying him? Kim: Well I just don’t know. I don’t want to end up an old maid and I can’t live here forever. Angie: Look *she said putting her hands on Kim’s shoulders* just don’t do anything crazy. We’ll talk about this some more tomorrow okay? Kim: Okay *she sighed*. Angie: Now we better go get dressed. This thing is gonna get started soon. *Kim walked back to Rhett who stood up and grinned from ear to ear when he saw her heading his way.* Kim: Rhett, I would be happy to have you as my date tonight but I can’t promise you anymore than that. At least not yet. Rhett: With you by my side my dear, I’m sure it will be an evening to remember. *He kissed her hand and left to get ready for the night’s festivities.* *The guests arrive and mingle in the ballroom taking turns being introduced to Angie’s new husband.* [img src="http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t163/coopsgirl_30/ballroom.jpg" src=" *All seems to be going well as everyone is quite pleasant towards Cole. Despite an intense case of nerves, he feels a little more relaxed with Angie by his side holding his hand. After a bit, dinner is announced and the guests move to the dining room.* [img src="http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t163/coopsgirl_30/leedscastlediningroom.jpg" src="[ (I’ve actually eaten here. It’s the dining room in Leeds Castle in England and it’s gorgeous!!) *Cole looks at all the silverware around his plate which is made of fine bone china and rimmed with gold. He goes to grab the fork on the left when the woman sitting across from him shoots him a strange look.* Angie: *gently nudging him* Other side. *she whispers and he picks up the correct fork.* *This continued throughout dinner as the crowd remained quiet and kept their eyes on Cole waiting to catch every mistake he made.* Rhett: Your brother-in-law seems to be the center of attention. *He said as he leaned closer to Kim.* Kim: I feel so bad for him. They all keep looking at him like he’s from another planet. Rhett: Oh, don’t worry about it. Their opinions don’t matter. They like to think they’re above every one else but we know better don’t we *he said as he winked at her.* *As dinner mercifully ended the guests moved back into the ballroom as the orchestra began to play.*

Angie and Cole step out onto the dance floor -- dancing and mingling with a few of the important guests that pass them by. Kim watches everyone dance cheek to cheek while she stands off to the side -- alone. Her mind flashes back to the barn dance in Montana; the night she would have given anything to be held in the arms of Tom Henry – swaying to the rhythm of the poorly conducted band that was probably just a nephew, and a few of his buddies, of the managers’. Now she’s back home in an extravagant dancing hall with musicians whose hourly pay is probably a higher amount than the cost of Cole’s entire farm. Though strangely, the folks back in Montana looked so much more content and carefree as they danced to silly waltzes in an old run-down barn wearing outfits that would make these snobs faint in disbelief. She’s learned so much from her three months stay on that farm, but what dumbfounds her most is that she’s been an adult for 6 years but it took her only 3 months to realize what adulthood is really all about.
From a few crowds away, Rhett’s gaze distracts her from her thoughts as she catches his charming smile. He raises his champagne glass to his lips and takes a sip, not once taking his eyes off her. ’Mr. Rhett Butler.’ Kim mutters under her breath, looking him up and down. He isn't a terrible man; sure, he may not be what I had first imagined in a husband, but life is anything but a fairytale and I can't live with mom and dad for the rest of my life. Besides, who else is offering such a proposal? He's kind, sweet, courteous and well mannered; what else do I need in a man? We'd have a happy life -- traveling the world and seeing the sights.... She takes a deep sigh and her mind is immediately taken back to that beautiful meadow in Montana. But after seeing that countryside...New York hardly seems to fit me anymore. Lucky Angie...marrying a handsome cowboy and having that meadow as her backyard... A person from Rhett’s group nudges his shoulder, as if asking him a question; he breaks eye contact with her. Kim looks down and sighs, lightly rubbing her thumb across the sweat of her champagne glass. As she takes a sip, a tap on her shoulder startles her; she turns around and smiles weakly. “Oh, hello Rhett.” “Hello, my dear. I hope you’ll pardon my intrusion but I was wondering if you’d care to accompany me on the dance floor.” Kim hesitates then smiles kindly, “I’d love to.” She exhales deeply and takes his hand. The two walk onto the dance floor and sway to the romantic rhythm. Kim sighs and lays her head on his shoulder, chuckling at herself for thinking she could have ever won Tom's heart – a man who couldn’t even stand the sight to look at her. Feeling the body of a man holding her close and actually giving her some positive attention is something that attracts Kim to Rhett even more; no, she isn’t physically attracted to him, but she can learn to love him in time. Rhett seems to be much different from the other men she's dated because he isn’t grabby, forceful or drunk: he’s a gentleman who probably wouldn’t even ask for a kiss until after the wedding. Yet there is something odd about the man: he seems somewhat indifferent, as though he doesn't truly hold any romantic feelings toward her. But she shrugs the feeling off, figuring it's only because they've known each other for such a little amount of time and he couldn't possibly fall in love with her immediately. The romantic mood lifts just a bit as the band begins in jazzy swing, stepping up the tempo and giving the guests an energetic lift in their feet.

Angie: I’m getting thirsty. *she said as they were dancing*
Cole: You want some champagne? I saw one of the guys with a tray of glasses go by a minute ago.
Angie: No, I think I’ll go get a glass of water.
Cole: I’ll get it for you.
Angie: Thanks sweetie. *She kissed him on the cheek as he made his way through the crowd and to the kitchen.*
Mrs. Nelson: You haven’t spent anytime with our guests dear. You have all the time in the world to spend with Cole. Tonight you need to play hostess. *She said in a condescending manner.*
Angie: These people aren’t my friends anymore Mother. I’ve seen the way they’ve been looking down their noses at Cole all evening.
Mrs. Nelson: I just don’t know what’s gotten into you and your sister lately but you better snap out of it and go mingle, right now!
*She grabbed Angie by the arm and led her to a group of women who were chatting near one of the windows. Then Mrs. Nelson left her alone with the wolves.*
Susan: Hello Angie! We haven’t gotten a chance to catch up since you’ve been back.
Angie: Yes, well I’ve been busy. *She said forcing a smile.*
Susan: I was surprised to hear that you got married. It happened rather quickly didn’t it? You’re not in any kind of trouble are you dear?
Angie: Of course not! I married Cole because I love him.
Margaret: That’s a lovely dress Angie. Didn’t you wear it to Susan’s birthday party just before you left his summer?
Susan: Oh I thought it looked familiar. I must say I’m surprised you didn’t buy something new for tonight.
Angie: Well there’s more to life than just shopping and dressing up you know.
Sharon: Well I suppose your husband wouldn’t appreciate it anyway so what’s the point? *She said as the other women laughed.*
Angie: *biting her tongue trying to keep her temper from flaring up* I’m really ashamed that we used to be friends. I’d rather be around the people we met in Montana, including my husband, anyday rather than small minded people like you.
Margaret: Lyla said you had changed and not for the better. It looks she was right.
*Angie walked away and went to find Cole. She found him sitting on the staircase near the kitchen. He looked like he was a million miles away.*
Angie: Cole, are you okay?
Cole: Is this party almost over?
Angie: *sitting down beside him* I wish it was. My mom forced me to “mingle” with our lovely guests. Do you know that one of them had the gall to ask me if we got married because you got me into trouble!?
Cole: Well I got ambushed by a group of men warning me about you.
Angie: What did they say?
Cole: Just that you would love me and leave me so I shouldn’t get too attached to you or your bank account. It took every ounce of self control I had not to sock ‘em right in the jaw.
Angie: *putting her arm around his and leaning her head on his shoulder* Me too. I wanted to slap those girls but that would just make it worse. I guess everyone is thinking the same thing about us.
Cole: Do you think we could just slip away upstairs and have our own party? *He leaned over and began kissing her neck.*
Angie: I’d love to *she said giggling* but I don’t wanna leave Kim alone. I don’t trust that Rhett Butler and I have to make sure he doesn’t try anything funny.
Cole: Okay, let’s go back out there. But I’m not letting you out of my sight for the rest of the night.

Just as Angie and Cole walk out into the hall, the butler taps Cole on the shoulder. “A mister Henry is on the phone for you, sir.” The butler says drearily. “Thank you.” Cole replies, walking toward the phone. “I’ll come with you.” Angie says, following him to the kitchen. “Hello? Oh, hiya Tom; what’s u--” Cole gets interrupted by Tom. He looks to Angie; Angie shrugs, “What is it?” She whispers. Cole places his hand over the receiver and whispers back to Angie, “It’s Tom; he’s on his way here.” “Tom’s coming to New York?!” Angie chuckles in disbelief. “Sure, all right, Tom. Here’s Angie.” Cole hands the phone to Angie and steps aside. Angie shakes her head, confused, and then picks up the phone. “Hello, Tom? Yes, she’s here. You want directions to the house?” Angie looks at Cole; Cole’s just as confused. Moments later, after Angie gives Tom the directions and hangs up, she looks to Cole and faintly laughs. “You were right…Tom’s on his way.” “But why?” Cole shakes his head and shrugs. Angie stares off into the distance and slowly turns her gaze upon Cole. “Because Tom Henry is in love with Kim Nelson.” Cole hesitates for a moment then shakes his head in disbelief. “Nah, he can’t be! You saw how much he hated her—“ “You and I fell in love, didn’t we?” Angie replies. “Yes, but I didn’t hate you. Tom’s never liked women -- he’s never trusted them.” Cole takes a deep sigh, trying to process this information in his mind. “Well, I guess we’d better go tell Kim.” Cole begins to walk out of the kitchen when Angie stops him. “No, Tom said he wanted to surprise her. I think it’s best if we just stay out of it.” Angie advises. About 20 minutes later the doorbell rings. The butler walks over to the door and opens it up. “Can I help you, sir?” He inquires with the same boring tone. Tom stands in the gold-trimmed doorway and looks around – nervous. An instant thought of ‘maybe I made a huge mistake’ lingers in his mind and ignites more hatred toward the richer-half; knowing he could never stand to be in such a place of spoiled-rotten snobs who didn’t pour their sweat and blood into earning what they own. But he pushes those feelings aside and focuses on the Kim he saw blossom into a responsible, hard-working and beautiful woman on the farm in Montana. “I’m looking for Kim.” Tom replies lowly. “Ms. Nelson is in the dance hall; please wait here for a moment, sir.” The butler walks off to announce Tom’s arrival. Moments later Kim appears from the dance hall; her eyes immediately focus on the tall and handsome man standing before her. He didn’t match the scene one bit; his clothes were anything but formal and there was still dirt and mud stains on his hands from working out in the field. Her stomach begins to turn but she takes a deep breath and walks up to him. “Why are you here, Tom?” Kim tilts her head and says softly, almost in a motherly tone, as if he should know better. “I wrote you a poem.” Tom replies with a sweet smile, the look in his eyes sparkle. Kim stands motionless, with her arms folded, and continues listening. “I wrote it on the plane. You know I’m not good with words,” He chuckles nervously. “But it’s the best I can do to explain my feelings.” I’m not the hero who will always save the day; don’t always wear the white hat or always know what to say. I may not be the dream you wanted to come true, but I’ll always be the man who’s in love with you. When the world won't turn the way you wish it would and the dreams you have don't come alive as often as they should, remember that there's someone whose heart is always true. Because no one else can be as good as me…at loving you.He folds the paper up and places it into his pocket, then gazes into her eyes. “I love you, Kim. It’s taken me three long months to admit it, but I love you; …you taught me what it means.” He searches her eyes for the same look he saw in the photo…but his confidence level drops when he notices it’s no longer there. “You don’t love me, Tom. You’ve been deprived of the feeling for so long that you’re searching in all the wrong places." She turns his attention back on her. "Love isn’t something to be taught or learned – it’s given; and sometimes you give knowing it won’t be felt in return. ” She takes a deep sigh and searches his eyes, “Oh Tom, you don’t seem to understand that your mother didn’t leave you because you didn’t earn it well enough: you don’t earn it after years and years of struggling. Love is in the smallest of things: a friend, a hug, a kind word, or even—“ “A kiss.” He pulls her into his embrace and wraps his strong arms around her body tightly, kissing her passionately. But she quickly releases herself and looks down, trying to find a way to say this without hurting his feelings; she looks up: “I decided when I left the ranch that I’d free you of your obligations; you aren’t responsible for me anymore, Tom. I’m sorry; but I don’t want to see you again.” She begins to walk away when he speaks up, stunned. "What changed?" "I did." She replies. "I didn't mind the work, Tom, but the endless amount of hatred that you were relentless in providing was what drove me further and further away -- until there was nothing left in my heart for you but pity. I did love you -- desperately -- but once I realized that you were incapable of love, I knew that it was time to bury my pain; and alongside it...my love for you." With that said, she walks back into the dance hall and disappears into the crowds within seconds. Tom stands motionless; the feelings of abandonment, pain, and unworthiness of love creep back into his life and circle above him like hungry vultures. The only woman who could set him free from his pain no longer desires him or needs him. He walks over to the doorway and watches the crowds of people dancing to the ritzy music. His eyes follow her to an older man with a goofy moustache. The two begin to dance close; making Tom figure that the reason she was so stand-offish was because she's already in love with another man. A woman walks up to Tom and looks him up and down. “Wanna dance, big boy?” she smiles flirtatiously. Tom ignores her and continues watching Kim dance.

*Cole saw Kim come back into the ballroom alone and he and Angie went to find Tom who was now sitting by himself in the foyer.*
Angie: What happened? *she said sympathetically as she saw a completely different look in his eye. He seemed much softer and gentler than the hardened man she had known on the ranch.*
Tom: I told her I loved her but she said she didn’t love me anymore. *He was fighting back tears as he told them.*
Cole: Oh. *he said sitting next to him* Maybe she didn’t mean it.
Tom: No, I looked in her eyes and all I saw was pity, just like she said. All she feels for me now is sympathy. *He got up and walked towards the door.*
Cole: Where are you going? *he said as he grabbed his arm to stop him*
Tom: Back home I guess.
Angie: Look it’s late and you had a long trip today. Why don’t you stay here tonight and you can go tomorrow.
Tom: Thanks but I can’t stay here.
Angie: Well let me get you a hotel room then.
Tom: Why are you being so nice to me? I didn’t treat you much better than Kim. *He said genuinely puzzled by her kind behavior.*
Angie: You seem different now. *She said sweetly*. I think you learned something from us just like we learned something from you and Cole. Now just wait here and I’m gonna call and get you a room.
Tom: Lot of good it did me to change. *He said looking down to the floor.* Now I’ve just embarrassed myself for nothin’.
Cole: It wasn’t for nothin’ Tom. I’m proud of you.
Tom: Well I’m never gonna let another woman get to me like that again.
Cole: Aw, don’t say that. *He said as he patted Tom on the back*
Tom: Well I finally opened up to one and she rejected me. I couldn’t go through that again.
Cole: You get a good night’s sleep and we’ll talk more about it tomorrow okay.
Angie: *Coming back into the foyer.* It’s all arranged and the driver’s waiting out front for you and he’ll take you to the hotel.
Tom: I feel bad about this, I don’t wanna take anything from you. *he said sincerely*
Angie: Hey, what’s the use of all this money if I can’t help my friends when they need it.
Tom: *looking up at her* You really think of me as a friend?
Angie: You’re more of friend to me than any of those clowns in there.
Tom: I don’t know what to say. Thanks.
Cole: Now you go get some sleep and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
*Tom left and Cole and Angie went back into the ballroom to see Kim dancing with Rhett.*

"So, my dear," Rhett breaks the silence and dances even closer to Kim's cheek. "Have you decided upon an answer to my question yet?" Kim hesitates, trying her best to put Tom out of her mind and Rhett into her future. "I'm not sure, Rhett. I still have a lot of thinking to do." She replies softly. Rhett pulls away and looks into her eyes, "Anything the matter, Kim?" "No, I'm fine -- really. Just a little stuffy in here; that's all." "We can go outside on the balc--" "No, Rhett; I think this evening is pretty well over for me." She releases herself from his embrace and gives him a weak smile. "I'll think about your question somemore and hopefully have the answer for you within the next couple days." She leans in and gives him a polite kiss on the cheek, then excuses herself from the room. Kim walks out of the dancing hall then into the kitchen; on her way she half expected Tom to be standing in the same place that she left him, but she was relieved to see that he had left without making a big scene. She opens the kitchen door and sits down on the barstool at the counter and pours herself another glass of champagne. She removes her heels and downs the champagne within seconds -- reaching for yet another refill. What am I gonna do? I can't go back to Tom -- I won't. Sure, maybe his emotions were real tonight, but I couldn't be with a man who's so brutal and emotionally scarred from his past. What life would that be for me? The selfishness begins to creep in again; she hardly notices to stop it from invading her thoughts completely. Could it be her old self peaking through; or is it just the champagne? If I marry Rhett...I'll be happy. We'd travel the country, see the sights, and just be happy! But would it last? She downs another glass without even thinking; and with each sip her thoughts become hazier and more jumbled. I loved Tom, but that was in the past. He isn't my type, anyways. She giggles to herself and almost slips off the chair. She positions herself upright and holds onto the bottle of champagne tightly. I have to marry Rhett...what other chance will I have? Yes, I'll marry Rhett. And we'll marry tonight! Kim jumps down from the stool and onto her feet. She staggers to the door and holds her head, trying to stop the room from spinning. She staggers toward the dancing hall when Angie takes her eyes off of Cole and catches Kim just as she's about to fall. "What are you doing, Kim?" Angie asks, laughing at Kim's clumsiness. "Ihm ghonna thhhell Rhesh thaht Ihm ghonna maaari him. *Hick*" She stumbles toward the door when Angie motions for Cole to come help her. "I think you'd better get up to bed, missy." Angie says as she removes the champagne bottle from Kim's freakishly strong grasp. Cole stands her up straight and places her in front of the stairs. Kim sits down hard on the floor and giggles, playing with the wallpaper design. "Kim, g--" Angie goes to speak up when Kim interrupts. "You know who'd I'd liked to haved married?" Kim smiles cheesily. Angie folds her arms and chuckles, shaking her head. "Ghary Flooper--Cloop---Cooper." She nods approvingly and smiles again. Angie looks to Cole and shrugs, laughing. "I think that's a cousin of mine." Cole replies, shrugging. Angie turns her eyes back on Kim and points up the stairs, trying to hold in her laugh. "Kim, go upstairs now." Kim hikes up her dress and waddles up each stair slowly.

I'd love to have married Ghary Flooper too! *Once the evening had finally come to an end, Angie and Cole went upstairs to their room. She just wanted to go to sleep but Cole had something he needed to get off his chest. It had been nagging at him ever since they got to New York and now had reaching the boiling point.* Cole: We need to talk about somethin'. *He said seriously as he sat in one of the chairs near their bed.* Angie: Can it wait till tomorrow, I'm so tired. *she said taking off her shoes and stockings.* Cole: No it can't. *he said as he kept his eyes on the floor.* Angie: Okay Cole, go ahead. *she said sweetly although she was a little worried by his tone.* Cole: Do you think our marriage was a mistake? Angie: No I don't! Why would you even ask me that?. *She walked over to him but he got up and kind of backed away from her.* Cole: Think about it. We've only known each other 3 months and for most of that time we were fighting. Angie: Do you love me? *She asked him sternly.* Cole: You know I do. Angie: Well that's all that matters sweetheart. *She tried to move closer to him but again he backed away.* Cole: What if it's not? Look at Kim and Tom. She loved him but it didn’t last. Besides that what if you wake up one day and realize what you left behind here and regret it? Angie: I don’t know exactly what’s going on between Kim and Tom but I do know about us. I love you and Cole, honey, this stuff isn't nearly as important to me as you are. Cole: But you do like all this stuff don't you? The fancy clothes, and cars and jewerly; all the things that I can't give you. Angie: Yes I like those things, but I did just fine without them at the ranch. I’ve changed so much this summer and now I know that all that stuff can be fun, but it can't bring you real joy, and that's what I've found with you. Cole: Well that's another thing I've been thinking about. You've rearranged your whole life and who you are to suit me and my way of life. I guess I'm just afraid that you'll end up hating me for that. *She sat down on the bed frustrated because she just didn't seem to be getting through to him.* Angie: I could never hate you. I'm glad that I'm a different person now. I'm a better person and it's because of you. I was shallow and cold and not really very happy. *She was beginning to cry a little.* Cole: *kneeling down in front of her holding her hands* Please don't cry darlin'. I'm just trying to save us both from the heartbreak that's bound to come when we realize we're wrong for each other. Angie: Are you saying you want a divorce? *she could barely get the words out over her sniffles.* *He didn't answer her and just hung his head. She jerked her hands out of his and stood up. Her crying had stopped as she was now overcome with anger. Cole stayed kneeling on the floor and began to cry himself. After a few minutes Angie was finally able to speak.* Angie: Well Mr. Harden, you're not getting rid of me that easily. *She said with steely determination.* *Angie took her gown off and stood there in her slip. She grabbed the end of the dress and found the seam at the side. With all her strength she pulled it until it began to rip. Upon hearing this Cole looked up at her without saying a word. After she had ripped the beautiful gown all the way from the hem to the sleeve she threw it to the ground and walked into the bathroom. He got up and followed her in to see her taking off her diamond bracelet and matching earrings. Without hesitation she threw them in the toilet and flushed them.* Cole: What are you doing? *he said surprised as he wiped away the tears that were running down his cheeks.* Angie: I'm trying to prove to you that I don't need these things as much as I need you.*she yelled at him* *Cole just stood there staring at her not sure what to say. Thinking she had failed and still hadn't convinced him, Angie fell down in a heap on the floor and began to sob. As he stood there trying to process everything that had transpired over the last several minutes he realized he was wrong. Gently he picked her up and carried her back into the bedroom laying her down on the bed.* Angie: Please don't leave me! I love you!! *she begged as she held him tightly and continued to cry.* Cole: I won't sweetheart. *He said squeezing her even tighter.* I'm so sorry. I wouldn't hurt you for anything in the world. Angie: So you don't really want a divorce? *She asked still crying.* Cole: No. I never did. I’m just all messed up here and was afraid that you’d think you made a mistake with me. *She kissed him and held his face in her hands.* Angie: Everything is different here and I don’t like it anymore. Let's go home tomorrow, back to the ranch. Cole: Really? Angie: Yes.

That is the most romantic, sad and amazing post I've ever read.
I'm stunned.

I'm glad it was good. I've been working on it for the past few days.

This one's gonna take a while, sis. I won't be home tomorrow afternoon but I may be able to post in the evening or *gulp* by Friday evening It's getting down to the wire and I still have no ideas! So I'll have to think about it for a bit and post. This way you can chew on some ideas, too! 'Cause I feel awful that there's so much wrapped up into my part; it's overwhelming to type out all the little details for further use later on! Arrrrg! All right, again, I'm sorry, lol, I'll post later; so don't think I forgot about it!
