In Paris, detective Claude Chavasse is hired to follow a wife suspected of infidelity with the notorious American libertine Frank Flannagan. When the husband learns that his suspicions are accurate, he tells Claude of his plan to kill Flannagan. Claude's daughter Ariane overhears the threat and warns Frank of the coming trouble. She then plays the part of a worldly socialite with a list of conquests as long as Flannagan's. The bemused ladies' man returns to America the next day and Ariane, completely in love, follows his romantic escapades in the news. She sees him again in Paris the following year, and resumes her worldly guise, telling tales of former lovers when they meet at his hotel in the afternoon. Frank, amazed by the mystery girl and surprised to find himself jealous of her past, hires Claude to uncover more information about her. When the detective realizes what has happened, he asks Frank not to break his daughter's heart.I had actually never cared for Audrey Hepburn, but it's funny how I grew to love her and grew to dispise Gary in this film. He played the part pretty well, seemed pretty dark and pained and sadly left an empty space in my heart at the end. Oh well, I suppose everyone's opinions are different. Though I thought he's done MUCH better... (Trailer)www.videodetective.com/trailer-preview.asp?publishedid=2143

One of the huge favorites of mine. Like every bit from this movie even started collecting stills from it. I have some personal feelings about it and feel it is very autobiographical for Gary Cooper.

Girl you have great taste! ;D I love this one too and it definitely has some of his real personality in it. I find him incredibly sexy in this one.
I have several movie stills of him too decorating my livingroom. I have Souls at Sea, The Westerner, Pride of the Yankees (one of my top faves), Shopworn Angel, Story of Dr. Wassell, Mr. Deeds (another of my top faves), and Bengal Lancers. I also have reproduction movie posters from Now and Forever, One Sunday Afternoon, Bengal Lancers, Beau Geste, and Meet John Doe (my very fave).

I want to see it too! I've looked for it at the library and can't find it! *sob* I'll have to call and demand, oh I mean, ask them to get it from another library for me.

Well, they gave into my demands, LOL, and I FINALLY saw it today. YEA! I really like it! Audrey looks beautiful (as always) and Gary is very charming. But there are sometimes when Audrey and Gary's different ages contrast and it just seems odd that they'd be a couple. But anyway, like I said, I like it.
