Does anyone know why Alfred Hitchcock never made a movie with Gary Cooper? Didn't he ask him, or did he and Gary turned it down, or didn't they like each other and therefore couldn't get to work together? Was just wondering about it because I adore Hitchcock's movies and I think Gary would have been perfect as one of his leads.

I've always thought the same thing, too; I wish Gary would have starred in a Hitchcock film! But Alfred actually asked him to star in two of his films: "Saboteur" and "Foreign Correspondent." Both having been in the 1940's. Gary admitted he made a mistake not taking Hitchcock up on his offer. I guess the role went to Joel McCrea instead
