What made him get so involved with finding a cure for MD? Was it someone he met or something like that?

That's a great question! I wish I knew... Maybe he met someone along the way and developed the passion; you know Jerry, always wanting to help

I read in "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime (Especially Himself)" that Jerry had a spinal condition when he was a wee one that could have left him paralyzed if Grandma Sarah didn't care so much for him. I figure that's why he's been so passionate about it, he's been through a similiar situation.

"Joey was a sickly child at birth, and when he was two years old, he was afflicted with a spine condition that might have left him crippled for life had it not been for his Grandma Sarah in whose care he was left most of the time when his parents were away. Grandma Sarah first noticed the trouble, took him to a doctor, and saw to it that little Joey got the proper medical treatment and therapy. His recovery was complete, but his Tiny Tim days left an imprint on his mind that no doubt partially motivated his decision years later to devote his time so unsparingly to raising funds to fight Muscular Dystrophy."

THOSE LIARS! Just goes to show that you just have to do enough research I guess...*shrugs* And who'd a thunk it would have been in a book all this time?!

I guess that could be the reason he so strongly supports the MDA.

I find it really upsetting that 50 years later, people still hardly know anything about Muscular Dystrophy..
