I don't know if anyone else caught it outside the main loop, and the media was too busy covering the Spears sisters to really note, but Vampira from Plan Nine From Outer Space finally died a few days ago. She was like 86 or so.

She was a horror film host out of Los Angeles in the 1950s. She tried to sue Elvyra-Mistress of the Dark and her horror show program for stealing her routine in the 1980s and failed. She may be seen in the Ed Wood classic, so to speak, Plan 9 From Outer Space.
