I haven't ever mentioned this movie with Steve Mcqueen and Dustin Hoffman but it is my favorite prision movie and one of only three movies I liked from the seventies. The other being Emperor of the North Pole with Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin. Also both of these movies came out in 1973.
My third favorite movie from the seventies was Jeremiah Johnson with Robert Redford that came out a year earlier in 1972.
After those three movies I could pretty much exclude all other movies from the 70's. I am not sure if the 70's would be considered classic movies or not here.

I almost had to make a correction to this list of 70's movies but Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with Robert Redford and Paul Newman came out in 1969. Oh I am sure there may be a couple more good movies from the 70's that I overlooked but for certain The God Father movies would be excluded with my dislike for gangster movies and for certain I am not a star wars fan at all. The Outlaw Josey Wells may be my forth favorite movie from the seventies but there are very few more favorites for me from that decade.

I do not think Emperor Of The North Pole is out ion vhs or dvd, as I have looked for it for years. Best I have been able to do was see the edited runs on tv from time to time.
