Yeah! They're so cute! I think I have a photo of him and Jerry, though I can't find it in the mess of pictures I have on my computer, lol.

Excuse me, but I have never ever heard that Cooper was a friend of Martin. Where did you read about it?

Oh, ok, I don't trust IMDB that much, since it often makes mistakes... I have read some biographies about Coop.. and in none Dean Martin waseven mentioned... but, however.. why not?

Sure was, in the "A daughter remembers" or wait, was it "American Hero" It said that "Close friend, Dean Martin, had attended his funeral"

Oh sure, like "close friend Marlene Dietrich".. I mean, what is a "close" friend in Hollywood? Just in my opinion, his best friends- if he ever really had some- were Joel McCrea, Jimmy Stewart and Ernest Hemingway.

Absolutely, I agree with you there.
But ThatsAmore asked what Gary Cooper had to do with Dean Martin (if anything at all) So I thought I'd share with her my knowledge on the subject. I remembered on IMDB that they said Dean and him were friends. To what extent? I have no idea, but I know that I've seen them both in pictures (photos) together and it has been said that he had appeared at Coop's funeral.
That's all I know about it, and you're absolutely right, a "friend" in hollywood could backstab you quicker than an enemy, but back in the day I know Dean and him knew each other and reading up on both of them, they seem to have had a lot in common.

I didn't want to offend someone here. I really do know nothing about Dean Martin (except of some songs and a few movies), but, to come back to IMDB those biographies are written by anyone.. and you can write everything you like... don't trust them every time. And, oh, yes, better he had Dean Martin as a friend, then John wayne, cause this man.. oh boy.. no, he was surely no real friend...

Oh! You didn't offend at all, pally. Not one bit! But I was just trying to clearify and make sure I didn't have any errors in my threads. So if anything, I should thank you for keeping me on the right track! But I know what you mean about IMDB, though I've always thought it was a pretty reliable source, I may have to keep my ears and eyes open next time, making sure I'm not too gullable with these stories. But what do you mean about John Wayne not being a good friend? I don't know much about John but is he really that bad?

First, I must admit, that I really dislike him very much.. jsut as an actor.. his image.. what he said about Coops Will Kane.. he hated the movie "High Noon", and said that Coop did in the end step at the Marshalls star (which he didn't!).. he said this movie is so unamerican, and Coop should have never done it. I guess that's why Coop wanted Wayne to pick up his Oscar for "High Noon".. his kind of humour! Haha! You did it well Mr. Cooper!

LOL, wow, I guess I always liked John because of his movies, ya' know, thinkin' he was a real cowboy, just an icon that was so cool, but I never really knew his story. I guess I'll have to check him out, too! But that's really sad he didn't like "High Noon" lol, I guess it didn't really matter, there are so many fans of that film it didn't really have any effect! Thanks for the information, though, I never knew that
