Will Kane is a town marshall. It's his wedding day and his last day as a lawman. He was about to leave town with his new bride to start a new life when some men come to town who tell him that a man he sent to prison some years ago has just been released and is arriving on the noon train. Kane and any of the townsfolk who remember him, know that he's coming to town for one thing; to get Will. Will's friends tell him to leave town which he does but Will feeling that running away is not a solution returns and intends to face him. Will tries to find support from his friends but all of them don't want to help him or are too afraid and all that they tell him is to leave, even his wife feels the same way. And as the train comes closer, Will is all alone.I loved this movie... Though some say it wasn't much, I simply adored it. He was so raw and filled with emotion. Driven. Passionate. and Calm about it all. I also think Grace Kelly was gorgeous in this film... *Sigh* I just love Coop

I hated the song... it was so.. out of place. And Grace Kelly.. so annoying. No wodner that the most scenes with her were cut out.

The song was a bit strange, no doubt. But I think my least favorite person what that Mexican woman...*shudders* SHE was creepy.

Great movie, my papa's favorite. I thought it was a good song, but, creepy. It scared me. Grace was at one of her best roles in this, at least I thought.

Such harsh comments to Gary's most famous role. I love the song by Tex Ritter (John Ritter from Three's Company was his son). I thought it went well wit the story and also did not think the mexican lady was creepy. I know Kim's favorite scene in it was probably when Gary had that big fight in the barn with his deputy. Boy he really got bruised up in that fight

After Angie sent me the sound clip, I've grown to love this song. This was clear back in october and I had no idea what the film was about! Now that I actually understand the lyrics I've grown to LOVE it; my parents can't make me turn it off now!
That bruise scene gave me bruises of my own! Leaping from the tv set back to knock the bad guys out and hitting the tv screen...I'm now restricted and must wear oven mits while I watch a fight scene of Gary's...

Yes he got pretty beaten up in that movie which aided in the impact in his walk down that lonely street in the middle of town. I don't think it would have had as much impact if he was all clean and non bruised. This was the phisical bruising after the emotional bruising the townspeople gave him the whole way through the movie.

After that scene, my dad gawked at the screen and goes, "He better not have a clean shirt in this next scene"
I assured him that this was, in fact, a Gary Cooper movie...and that he doesn't keep a makeup fella near him at ALL times. He's still a man, you know...
He looked at me and nodded, "thanks, Kim...I won't doubt that next time"
I should say NOT!.

Read somewhere that Coop was going thru divorce from his wife, while shooting this movie. Guess he wasn't quite himself on the set. Coop and Kelly were wonderful in this film. Of course,Coop be the honorable guy he was,had to stay and protect the town, plus his new bride.

Yep, Rocky and him split up in '51. They got back together 5 years later and remained together until he died.
....Then she married his surgeon. How could she?! *Walks off mumbling to herself*

John Mulholland has a intro video out of his Inside High Noon documentary here: www.myspace.com/insidehighnoonThis video and all my reading on High Noon has given me an all new respect for this film of Gary's. John mentions that it is very much like a Shakespere short story as 7/8ths of the story is beneath the surface. I've also examined in great detail the Gary Cooper at the height of his acting ability and all the subtle changes in mood thoughout the movie and think that both this movie and Sergeant York he did his very best acting, which the academy concurs with as they are the two movies he got his best actor awards for. This is on the top of my list for all movies coming out this year and am counting down the days for its release. John also mentions that it will have the restored prestine print from Paramount. After watching the movie 5 more times, I now believe that this is now my favorite Gary Cooper western and my second favorite Gary Cooper movie behind only Sergeant York of course.

Hey Dan! Hope everything is going good with you . I would say High Noon has moved up to my number 3 fave behind Meet John Doe and Pride of the Yankees with Sgt. York as #4, but they are all bunched pretty close together . It's one of those films that the more I watch it, the more I like it. It was awesome getting to see this one on a big screen b/c all the little things in Gary's performance (facial expressions and body language) are so much more noticeable and powerful. He was mostly definitely on top of his game in this one and I'm really excited too to see the restored print and John's doc.

I'm doing pretty good other than trying to recover from lasik surgery. The surgery was very quick but I wouldn't recommend it to all as I was awake throughout on both eyes and could smell the burning of the laser I think. The recovery really stinks though as I have eye skin that is 10 times more sensitive than a normal persons and broke blood vessels in both eyes and my eyes are still bloodshot red 3 days after the surgery and have a bad case of dry eye that requires drops put in both eyes every hour. Other than that I am seeing 20/20 now. Below is a youtube link of John and his intro to his documentary for those that may not have been able to get adobe flash to work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmUieEVDCcY
