yeah there are alot that I left out also, including a few that you mentioned. Robert Schumann? the romantic era is whole other thread. lol. Have you heard serenade by Schubert? it is on Milo and Otis(when Milo finds a lady friend and he and Otis part ways). LOL. There is actually alot of classic pieces in that movie. Including Rachmanninov. I love his music. I know you meant to put Gene Krupa on that list! am I right?

I was thinking of him, but I haven't heard enough of his songs to call him a favorite.

He is pretty good, not the best. Chick Webb is better. But I have the Benny Goodman complete small group recordings it is Benny, Teddy Wilson, Gene Krupa and Lionel Hampton. It is a wonderful collection. Krupa is an excelent drummer.

Who are your favorite song writers? I see Irving Berlin, he is my favorite but it is always a toss-up between him and Gershwin. Porter comes in second.

I have heard of all people but I a few I have not really listened to...Kay Kyser, Ted Lewis, Spike Jones. I have heard all the rest before. I like Horace Heidt in "Pot O' Gold". Have you seen it. It is with Jimmy Stewart and Paulette Goddard. That is one of my favorites of Jimmy Stewart. I have just recently introduced myself to Guy Lombardo. I really like his "old timey" style. It reminds me of Paul Whitemans band. Yeah I missed alot on my list including Lawrenece Welk which also includes Myron Floren and Jo Ann Castle.

Funny you should mention Robert Schumann (and his histiory is just so uncanny). I truly love a piece by him called Little Gipsy Songs (translated from the German, which I do not know, the German title sounds something like Zwuikazwicka and yes, yes, I know that is inaccurate and I am mispronouncing it)
There have been two movies about him, one an old feature in black and white, but I cannot recall the title, then another with Nastasha Kinski playing Clara Schumann, again about them, Spring Serenade was the title, I believe..
