What's your favorite era and why? Geez, mine has to be the 30's and 40's... I just adore the simplicity of love back then. And of course the hotties like Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Robert Montgomery...

30's and 40's for sure. It's hard to say why, I just love everything about it.

1900's for the beautiful silents 1920's for the flappers 1930's for the glam and glitz in Hollywood 1940's Even more glam, glitz, and hotties 1950's probably only because of Martin and Lewis 1960's just because some of that stuff is neat 1970's for the same reason as the sixties.

Mine would have to be the 40's and 50's. 40's because I'm a WWII history fanatic and I love everything about it, the pin-ups, the style of clothing, movies (mostly musicals), sailors! And 50's because... shoot, I don't really know, I've always been fascinated by it. And the stories my mom-mom tells us about her teenage years are great.

Edwardian and teen's, no question. Essentially, because of everything, at least culturally/socially speaking. This was a time of fantastic innovation, with exciting, gorgeous new fashions, progression in motion pictures, new autos, new household conveniences, new scientific discoveries, new household and everyday conveniences. I also love it because society was able to shed the extreme severeity and pomposity of the Victorian Age, while still maintaining an air of dignity and class. And that is why, I'm firmly convinced that yes, I'm around 110 years old on the inside. ♥

Amen!
I recently read in some book that in 2002 a woman lived to be 104... Can you imagine living through 3 centuries? 1800, 1900, 2000... I mean, to be alive in all those turn of events and living through all those changes...it's gotta be amazing. When I hear my 33 year old sister go, "Ooooh, I wish I weren't so old" I just cringe, because I'd give ANYTHING to have been alive in the 1920's/30's. And when people complain about their age, I just feel so bad for them, thinking, "who wants to be younger? I wanna be older!" And that's what inspired me to write "Imprisoned Beauty"
Memories; the laughter you've shared, the loss you wish you could forget, the love you've felt...deeply, strongly, and passionately. Perhaps once...maybe even twice. But as much as you may regret any part in this life...it will never be taken away or burried. It's the feeling of warmth in your heart that may never, in all your life, be washed away.
Every wrinkle on an old woman's elderly face tells of a story...
The lines around her eyes paint a raw portrait of her witty personality, so carefree and gay, always laughing, always cheerful...
Her eyes, though very much glossy and going blind, tell of the times she had cried herself to sleep, so many nights, just heart-wrenchingly pouring her heart out to God, hoping in prayer, that her husband makes his way back from a the cold and bloody war, safely.
Her lips, now very wrinkled and pencil-thin, tell of her many kind words shared between loved ones and strangers, sharing truth and joy to many along her travels....
Her body, bearing 5 children, (all grown up now, with children of their own), quietly and painfully closes down. With cancer consuming her once perfect figure...she wastes away, now frail and weak.
Her hands used to paint portraits...beautiful works of art, though now wrinkled and arthritic; she still finds time to paint amidst the pain; painting little drawings for her grandchildren; though now, they aren't worth thousands of dollars, but she doesn't mind, because the joy on their faces, she's come to realize, is more precious than gold or silver.
Her hair, now grey and dying, still glistens in the morning sun as she combs it through and braids it tightly...
She looks in the mirror, noticing all of these "imperfections", but smiles...adding another wrinkle to her weathered face. She doesn't sigh or feel emotions of sorrow or sadness...but a feeling of joy and contentment, knowing, that deep within her soul lies, still, a beautiful young lady, bursting forth with liveliness and spunk.
Though many look at her, young and old, and feel pity on her, thinking she's quite ugly looking or deathly...
But she looks on them, with pity in her soul, for they...they are the ones who have truly grown old...

Heard many stories from the:
20's and 30's,from grandparents and parents. Pearl,gas limits,black outs,WW1 and 2,the personal things.
30's and 40's interest me,cause of parents growing then. Fashion, income, school, etc.
50's best years, cause I came into the world.(56) Recalling most years thru photos and stories, great time for children to be children.

I really do not have a favorite era, thoguh I can safely say the one I dislike the most is the one we have been lviing in since 2000.
There has been no time that has been truly utopia. Each era had some good things and also some things that left a lot to be desired.
