*The next morning Theresa bounds down the stairs, laughing manically. Melody comes barreling down the stairs after her. She runs behind the table, using it as protection so he doesn't catch her. She tries to catch her breath as he lunges to the right; she continues to laugh crazily down the porch steps and down to the beach. He laughs hysterically, running after her. She continues to run but it's no use, he grabs her arm and spins her around. The two collapse on the sand, laughing and panting. He pins her arms to the ground and looks down at her, smiling*
Theresa: *Panting* Hi...
*Melody chuckles, panting as well*
Melody: Hello...
*She kisses him softly on the lips then quickly slips out from under his arms and runs towards the water. He growls and chases after her. The waves knock up against her as she leaps in. He dives in after her, and she stands back, pushing her wet hair from her face. He finally gets up to her and takes her up in his arms, both sharing a passionate kiss. She gazes into his eyes and smiles. He smiles teasingly and drops her in the water*
Theresa: *Shrieking* Why, you...you goon!
*She attacks him, and they both go splashing into the water, laughing hysterically. After the afternoon romp in the water, the two roam back up on shore. Theresa cuddles in Melody's arms. The warm sun dries them both off, and the wild wind blows up against both of their bodies, blowing their hair in the wind. She gazes up into his eyes and smiles sweetly. He looks down at her and smiles back, warming her heart and giving her goosebumps. He goes to kiss her when a truck pulls up in front of the house. He looks up and gasps*
Melody: He made it!
*He leaps up and bounds up the steps*
Theresa: Who made it?
*Melody looks back and smiles*
Melody: Peter!
*Theresa laughs to herself*
Theresa: Who?
*He runs up the steps and goes to answer the front door... Theresa lays back down, basking in the warm breeze, overhearing a little bit of the muffled conversation between the man and Melody*
Theresa: I can't believe he invited a friend on our honeymoon!
*She chuckles to herself and closes her eyes again. A little while later she hears the car door slam shut as the man drives off again. She's enjoying the peaceful waves, smashing up against each other in almost a rhythmic tone. She follows each one, nearly dozing off when all of a sudden a Corgi leaps on top of her and starts licking her face. Theresa she sits up quickly, picking up the strange pup, confused*
Theresa: Oh my goodness!
*Melody closes the porch door and walks down the stairs quickly, laughing. Theresa looks to Melody, puzzled*
Theresa: Who's is this?
Melody: Ours...
*He chuckles, picking the dog up*
Melody: That's...if you want him.
*Theresa stands up and pets the puppy*
Theresa: Oh, gee, honey, I don't know what to say.
Melody: Well, Peter sure would appreciate it if you said yes.
Theresa: Peter?
*Still confused, she looks to Melody, who's smiling*
Theresa: ...THIS is Peter?
*Melody chuckles, then starts to laugh*
Melody: Yup!
*She begins to laugh crazily and picks him up, cradling him in her arms*
Theresa: Well hello, Peter!
*The pup barks and licks her face. The two start laughing*
Theresa: Is this the surprise you were talking about?
*Melody laughs in embarrassment*
Melody: Yup.
*She gives him a passionate kiss and smiles*
Theresa: It's perfect, he's adorable!
*Later that afternoon, Melody's out in the front, working on the car. Theresa brings out a cup of lemonade and leans in next to him, looking over all the gadgets.*
Theresa: *Points* That doo-hicky hooks up to...hmmm...*points* that whatchya'-micall it and fixes your whole problem!
*She chuckles as he wipes his dirty hands on his pants and pulls her in close for a kiss*
Theresa: Oh no you don't, you're not going to get me all dirty with that stuff!
*He laughs and chases her around the car, picking her up into his arms and kissing her sweetly. She pecks his lips*
Theresa: I love you.
*Melody smiles, and pecks her lips*
Melody: I love you.
*Theresa looks over the car and hands him the lemonade; he takes a sip and stands back*
Theresa: So what's wrong with it?
Melody: I have no idea...I think we need a new doo-hickey.
*Theresa laughs*
*Later that night Theresa and Melody snuggle up in bed. The moonlight shines brightly in through the window and casts itself shadows on the walls, while it quietly rains. Melody ooks to Theresa and smiles*
Melody: Do you realize that you're now my prisoner?
*Theresa looks to him*
Theresa: How's that?
*Melody scoots her body closer to him and runs his hand through her hair, studying her face*
Melody: All alone; no car, no phone, hours from the nearest railroad and a train every two days...
Theresa: You frighten me...
*She positions herself on the bed and looks to him*
Theresa: You know, a couple weeks ago, you didn't know anything about me...a couple weeks ago you didn't even exist
*He rolls over and holds her tight, kissing her softly*
Melody: You're wrong...I did exist, but I didn't live.
*The two lay in bed, listening to the waves outside when they get interrupted by a little puppy*
Theresa: Awww, he wants to sleep with us, he's probably afraid of the rain...
*She looks to Melody, who raises a brow, as if to say, 'he isn't a child...and he's not sleeping our bed with us'*
Theresa: Please?
*Melody gives in, then smiles and chuckles*
Melody: All right, but just this once.
*She leans over and gives him a peck on the cheek*
Theresa: Come on, pup!
*She lifts the puppy onto the bed and he saunters over to them both and lays right, smack dab in the middle of the two. Melody looks to Theresa*
Melody: This better not become a habit...*teasingly* I won't stand for it...
Theresa: I'm not asking you to stand...*baby talks to the puppy* I just want you to lay down...yes I do...
*She nuzzles the puppies nose and he barks playfully. The next morning the puppy's anxious and ready to start the day, though it's 6 in the morning, the puppy licks all over Melody's face. Melody pets the puppy and looks over to Theresa, who's still fast asleep. He quietly gets out of bed and walks over to the bathroom, yawning and stretching. The puppy leaps off the bed and races over to the bathroom door, slipping in at the very last second*
Melody: Well hiya Peter, you lonesome this morning?
*The puppy barks, chipperly*
Melody: Yeah, we've gotta fix that and get you a Mrs. Peter!
*The puppy growls at a piece of lint, rolling across the floor, he barks wildly at it and jumps back as it rolls towards him. Melody laughs and quickly washes his face, brushes his teeth, then opens the door and walks out to the kitchen to make breakfast. The puppy follows close behind, galloping to keep up with his fast pace! Seeing as though he's only 3 months old, his legs are very small and clumsy. Melody sits at the kitchen table, looking down at Peter*
Melody: So...whaddya' think Theresa will like for breakfast?
*The puppy barks, then growls, then barks again. Melody laughs*
Melody: Sounds perfect to me, although I don't think she likes dog biscuits...sorry pal.
*He gets up and ruffles the puppy on the head then walks over to the fridge to see what's to eat. The fridge is stacked to the brim and he decides to make her a very classic breakfast, including her favorite flapjacks. Melody, cooking the flapjacks, looks to Peter, who's chasing another piece of fuzz, probably coming from his own back, but who's paying any attention?*
Melody: Ya' know Pete...Theresa sure does love jam with her flapjacks...you think I should run to the store a pick up a jar of jelly?
*The puppy barks chipperly. Melody laughs*
Melody: All right, let's go!
*He turns off the stove and places the finished meal on a hotplate, to keep warm. He searches for a small booklet to see if the small store is still around. He looks up the address in the phone book then grabs his shoes and opens the door. Peter runs out of the house and looks back, barking to Melody to hurry up. The boys head off down the road, towards the store. Theresa wakes up and turns over on her side to kiss Melody, but instead there's a note*
Me and Peter have gone to pick up some surprises and a jar of jelly...be back soon!
P.S. Peter misses you terribly
*She smiles and takes the note in hand, walking down the steps, into the kitchen and placing it on the fridge door. She smells some wonderful food coming from the hotplates and lifts them up to find a gorgeous stack of flapjacks, eggs, bacon and hash browns. She's tempted to dig in, but waits for Melody and Peter. She walks to the front door and picks up the newspaper. Closing the door and walking to the porch, she opens the paper and immediately turns to the funnies. Hearing a knock on the door, she sets the paper down*
Theresa: I'll be right there...
*She walks to do door and opens it up to find Peter in Melody's arms. He's is holding the jam in one hand and a dozen roses in the other. He smiles charmingly and she smiles right back*
Theresa: *Ahem* Can I help you?
*Melody looks around*
Melody: Yeah, I'm here to call upon a lovely lady...
Theresa: Oh, well...the lovely lady's out right now, but I'd be happy to a message...
*He smiles and kisses her passionately. Theresa stands back, in a daze*
Theresa: *Ahem* Right...I'll be sure to tell her that.
*He laughs and continues to stand in the door*
Melody: I also brought her a jar of jelly...but seeing as she isn't here, I could leave it with you.
Theresa: Yeah...you could.....
*Melody smirks, then becomes serious again*
Melody: And I also brought her a dozen, lovely roses, but if she isn't here, then I'll just have to give these to you as well...
Theresa: Well, no one else is here to claim them, so I suppose you would have to.
*He chuckles and hands her the roses and jam*
Theresa: And *ahem, points* What about the puppy?
Melody: Oh, him? Oh, he's just along for the ride.
*Theresa laughs*
Theresa: Oh is that so?
*Melody nods. He bursts out laughing and whisks her up in his arms, kissing her passionately. He closes the door and walks her to the kitchen, setting her down on the chair. She looks to the hotplate and her stomach starts to growl. He looks to her, then the hotplate then back to her again. The two start laughing...*
Theresa: So...is that food for me?
Melody: Nah, I made it this morning for Peter...
*He looks to Peter, who's laying on the floor, sleeping*
Melody: But he's out cold, so I suppose we could eat it instead.
*Theresa laughs, looking at Peter, who's sound asleep*
Theresa: I suppose we should.
Melody: I even bought him jam and everything, but he's just too doggone tired...
*Theresa laughs*
Theresa: The dog is just too doggone tired, huh?
*Melody laughs, just realizing the joke*
Melody: Oh, uh huh...
Theresa: *Panting* Hi...
*Melody chuckles, panting as well*
