The biography of the Bandleader Glenn Miller from his beginnings to his death over the English Channel in December 1944, with a lot of his arangements, partly in an authentic cast.
I. Love. This. Movie!!!
I sobbed my eyes out (like I knew I would). I'm making everyone watch this film.
I...I love Jimmy and June!
And I love the movie!
*Sigh* I'll make a review on it later, I'm still going through some emotional--*begins to cry* Oooooh *collapses on Megg and starts wailing*

that makes another thing in common we have pally! jimmy and junie! oooohhhhh! this is among my grandmama's and my fav movies ever. we both love glenn miller's music and this loverly story. i always cry at the end when junie just breaks down in crying. and i always laugh the part in the night club when she sees louis armstrong for the first time. the look on her face when she drinks that gin in the coffee cup is totally priceless. i just had to get this one on dvd and it was worth getting.

I am also in love with this movie. Not just because of Jimmy but also because I love Glenn as well.
My copy should be coming any day now. I HAD to buy it on DVD because I love this movie!
I was pleased with the ending, I was concerned that I wouldn't like it, since so little is known about how Glenn Miller did die. But, I loved it and also bawled my eyes out at it lol.
It's also amazing how much Jimmy did look like Glenn. And what could be better than one really sexy man portraying another really sexy man, and doing a great job at it?!

Jimmy really did look like Glenn; I was surprised as well. How much of it was fiction compared to truth?

Great story, great actor, plus great music. No wonder it's good movie. Stewart & Allyson work so well together. On each movie they make. Morgan just adds to it.

Full Synopsis: The Glenn Miller Story traces Miller's rise from pit-orchestra trombone player to leader of the most successful big band of his era. June Allyson is on hand as Miller's wife, Helen, who learns the value of patience when Glenn spends his wedding night jamming with Gene Krupa and Louis Armstrong. Given an officer's commission during World War II, Miller helms the swingin'est military band ever heard. In December of 1944, a plane carrying Miller disappears while flying over the English Channel. In memoriam, radio stations all over the world suspend their regular broadcasts to play such Miller standards as "Moonlight Serenade," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "Little Brown Jug." Many of Miller's contemporaries, including his first big-time boss, Ben Pollack, appear as themselves. The success of The Glenn Miller Story inspired Universal to give the go-ahead for another musical biopic, 1956's The Benny Goodman Story, with Steve Allen in the title role. [/center]

They have quite a collection of his personal things. Including the cowboy hat he wore in ALL his westerns. There will never be another guy like Jimmy Stewart.

i love that new jimmy stewart stamp, and i just got it when it first came out.
i also love the two other mvies they did together. the stratton story, and strategic air command. they were too cute! although i cant say he was my favorite of junie's leading men, b/c she had so manyregular partners in her movies, it is always hard to decide, but i think i like vanji(van johnson) most as her leading man.
