I don't think it was staged. Jerry was too emotional and even Dean had to swipe a tear away. I only wonder why Frank had the reunion done on live tv and not have them meet private. I bet they had lots of stuff to tell each other. Ofcourse the fans and the audience freaked out and the ratings for Jerry's telethon went sky high .

I don't think the reunion was staged, but doesn't it say in Dean and Me that Dean did call Jerry after he found out that he had shown up at Dino's funeral?

Sure does. Deana also mentions it and goes into more detail in her book.

I wish I had that book, one of these days lol, maybe I can find it at our sorry little excuse for a book store, after all, I did find Dean and Me there, and that would at least save me the shipping and handling from amazon.com.

I remember I was watching the telethon with the sound off while doing something else, not really paying attention. I glanced over and saw Dean come onstage, and it didn't hit me right away what was happening--it was just another celebrity guest doing a spot on the show. Boy, did I do a doubletake when it struck me...JERRY AND DEAN...TOGETHER. I wish I hadn't missed the first part of it.

I wish someone would upload it again; it used to be on YouTube but they took it down. I have no idea why -- it was a public domain video -- it was on tv for cryin' out loud!
Oh well, just keep your eye out; it's bound to appear sooner or later

Yeah, that was great! Weird to see them so awkward and tentative with each other.
Gotta go watch some CCH now.

Yeah it was, and jerry looked so impacted by dean's presence, when dean left he looked as if he wanted to cry and didn't know how he was gonna continue with the show so sad

I'm glad that Dean and Jerry never officially got back together. I wish they would have been better friends after the split, but I'm glad they didn't try to do their old act. I think it would have looked forced and unnatural. Their chemistry was really what sold them and after it was gone I think they wouldn't have the same appeal. Plus, they couldn't have been doing the same things. I don't think Jerry running out and coughing with a 3-pound piece of meat on a fork during Dean's song would have been as comical when he was nearing 50. I am glad that there were a few surprises like this later on and I am glad that they began talking over the phone though.
