*The next morning, Theresa walks downstairs to find Melody's mother sitting at the kitchen table, writing out a list. Theresa sits next to his mother and looks around*
Theresa: Where's Melody?
Mother: He went for a walk this morning...said he had to think about somethings--you know, he's pretty smitten by you.
*Theresa blushes and smiles*
Theresa: Awwww...he's a very sweet man.
*His mother continues writing out her list, then finishes and holds it out in front of her, looking it over*
Theresa: What's that?
*The mother hands it to Theresa and gets up to make a pot of coffee*
Mother: That's your pass...
*Theresa chuckles and looks it over*
Theresa: A pass? It looks like a grocery list to me...
Mother: That's just what it is...but it's a pass to get out of the house--
*She raises an eyebrow and smiles, looking to Theresa*
Mother: ...Alone.
*Theresa giggles and gives the woman a hug*
Theresa: Oh...excuse me. I'm just so excited...
Mother: You should be! My boy's a very fine man...and it seems he's found the perfect woman to match. I'm going to give you my best dress...and don't you two come back until you have some big news!
*Theresa laughs and shakes her head*
Theresa: Boy, you're pretty fixed on getting him a wife, huh?
Mother: I should be! I've waited long enough...
*She sets down what she's doing and looks to Theresa*
Mother: You know, I don't have very many years left--
Theresa: Oh, don't say that! You're still very young, yet!
Mother: Sure, but young enough to see my grandchildren have children of their own?
*She turns back around and sets the pot on the stove*
Mother: I don't have any time to lose!
*Theresa nods and begins to walk up the stairs*
Mother: You can dig through my closet and find the dress in the back...
Theresa: Oh thank you, Mrs. Jones... I won't disappoint you!
*She giggles all the way up the stairs and into her room. She pulls out the drawers to the closet and thumbs through*
Theresa: Oh! These dresses are fabulou--
*She stops immediately when she sees the dress that's tucked away in back...*
(I'll leave this part to you; you know which dress you'd like best

**Kim and Deeds***Later that afternoon, Kim and Deeds decide to go for a nice, romantic picnic alone. They bring their basket and blanket and head down to the lake, under a lovely lilac tree (I know, they're bushes, but this story is far from reality). Deeds spreads the blanket over the grass and sits down; Kim sits down next to him and lays her head on his shoulder. The feel of the cool county air blowing gently against them sends shivers down Kim's spine. He pulls her in close and wraps his jacket and strong arms around her tightly, keeping her warm. She snuggles into his embrace and takes a deep sigh, looking up at him*
Kim: Longfellow...
*He looks down and smiles*
Deeds: Yeah?
*She runs her hand across his cheek and lays her head against his neck*
Kim: Have you ever been in love before?
*The question rings in Deeds' ears; the answer gets stuck in his throat from the nervousness. He runs his fingers over Kim's hair and kisses her forehead gently*
Deeds: Not until now...
*She looks up and searches his eyes to find if he's telling the truth*
Kim: Do you mean that?
*He takes hold of her arms gently and pushes her hair aside, running his thumb down her cheek*
Deeds: Kim....I lov--
Michael: Kim! Kim!
*Kim breaks from her gaze with Deeds and looks up, startled. She holds her chest and takes a deep sigh*
Kim: What is it, Michael?
Michael: Will you play cowboys and Indians with me and my friends?
*Michael looks to Deeds and jumps up and down*
Michael: You too, Uncle Deeds?!
*Deeds and Kim look to each other, laughing*
Kim: All right, Michael, I'm game!
Deeds: Sure, me too, young pup...
*Benjamin runs up to Kim and Deeds and hands Kim a fake ax and Deeds a cowboy holster*
Benjamin: You and me can be the cowboys, Uncle Deeds; Kim and Michael can be the Indians!
*Kim and Deeds laugh and nod*
Both: All right...
*Benjamin takes Deeds by the hand and they run off. Deeds looks back and chuckles as Michael takes Kim by the hand and run off in the opposite direction. After the war-paint's been smeared on their faces and they're dressed in the proper attire, Michael screams over to Benjamin and his friends*
Michael: You won't take her alive, you gun-totin' windbag!
Kim: Oh Michael, save me from the horrible cowboys!
*Michael smirks and winks*
Michael: I'll save you, Miss Kim! They won't get anywhere near you...
*As Michael and Benjamin continue to scream to one another, Deeds sneaks behind the barrel of hay and takes Kim by the hand. She smiles and looks toward the boys; they don't notice so the two sneak off and run behind a tall willow tree; he takes hold of her arms and gazes into her eyes. Playfully, Kim teases Deeds*
Kim: My mother always told me to stay away from cowboys! But you're the most handsome cowboy I've ever met...
Deeds: My mother always told me that Indian women were only theives...she was right, this one stole my heart.
*He pulls her close and kisses her passionately. The boys run to the tree and giggle to each other*
Michael: Looks like this game's a wash...
Benjamin: Yeah...who knew a cowboy would fall for an Indian lady?
*The boys shrug and walk off; Deeds and Kim continue kissing*
